A small lake for pedalling boats. It takes around 45 minutes to do a round however there is not much for guests to see around the lake. Perhals a small layering waterfall (Huntington Waterfall?) is the only attractive part of this lake. No direction around the Lake that tells you how to get to the Waterfall.
My kids love coming here when they're little. We would rent peddle boats and go around the lake. If you're strong, get the row boat. It's a blast seeing the ducks and turtles in the water.
Incredible spot. Boating is $27 for an hour. Little cafe here also.
Fantastic small venue for intimate music experience!
It s so beautiful, I feel like I m in the primeval forest
Great place to rent a paddle or row boat and crusie around the lake. We rented two and raced the other boat...
Not only boat rentals available here as they also have a snack bar & restrooms. Nice area to walk around or to ride a row boat or a paddle board because it provides another look at the area, as well as perspective on nature.
Family fun outing. paddle boat & row is a must there!
We really enjoyed this walk, the lake is big and with a beautiful landscape, you are among the ducklings and beautiful tree.
Excellent time! Very scenic and relaxing. Besides being able to rent a boat there are food and coffee options. There are also bathrooms, picnic tables and benches placed around the property. Wonderful scenery!! Bicycle parking is available and dogs are welcome. You can even take your dog on a boat ride! So much fun!
Amazing lake in the middle of the golden gate park! Good place for boating, relaxing and small bites
Excellent park and lake for kids & adults for casual walks outdoor, paddle boat ride and Pokemon GO trainers :))
Stopped off at Stow Lake to rent a pedal boat. Get there earlier in the day. We waited a hour.
There is a snack bar with food and alcohol, including fully functional restrooms.
When we returned from our pedal boat we heard the wait was 3 hours.
I enjoyed seeing nature while touring the lake.
This small lake is perfect for a boat ride. Go during weekdays n when the sun is out to get the most out of nature. Love it here
Ok watering hole and recreation point on the side of the lake. Food and drink (snacks) available. Boats for hire if you feel energetic.
It is a very nice place, I'm usually by there early in the morning.
Beautiful place to walk in Golden gate Park. Make sure to visit the tea House and waterfalls!
A great place for anyone to do a multitude of out door activities, rain or shine!
This was an amazing experience. Such great scenery. Look out for some turtles in the water
Fast, efficient service. Dog friendly. Beautiful views.
What a nice little surprise! In the middle of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park! A lake with waterfalls and pagoda on an island. The Boathouse serves as a place to rent boats but also get a snack or have a beer or a glass of wine. The views are beautiful and they do have some indoor seating if the weather is not nice. They also have items for purchase there any gift shop typesetting. We went there on a rainy day and were able to purchase inexpensive ponchos for a dollar 1.99 at the Boathouse. They literally saved our day out there.
The pedal boat prices are little pricey but this is a beautiful place inside golden gate park
Great place to enjoy some wine and snacks on a row boat or peddle boat. They sell wine and snacks there. I bring my own! Lovely
Great, peaceful area full of wildlife. Love seeing the great blue herons, especially their nests during the springtime. The goslings are great, too!!
Pretty busy during the warm months and with the new COVID-19 restrictions. Get there early to avoid the long wait times.
Went for a Airbnb Concert experience. Amazing little building with great music.
Had a great time rowing one of their boats around the water, good fun on a sunny day! The park is beautiful.
So much fun, the air smells fresh and clean. The food is costly, yet so good. Great tourist attraction, great place, to just go and relax. Its lovely to bring a book and just kick back. People are friendly here, it tends to get chilly, so you may consider bringing a jacket. These little boats, are the best. They're so much fun. Amazing place, to bring children too. They'd have a blast here.
It's a nice date idea. You pay 20 bucks to do a lap around the lake. It's got nice scenery, and people look at you with jealousy and envy. On a hot day your just peddling your feet in hot sun. So I would suggest going on an overcast day. It was a nice workout though. I let my girlfriend do most of the work while I sat back and enjoyed(just kidding)
The lake is so nice that you can just sit and watch nature.
Great place for family boating, you get to enjoy the wind and the sun (if you get there in good weather) the boats are priced around 22$ to 38$ depending if you want a canoe or a pedal boat or if you want the family boat which comes with 4 pedal spaces and two empty. You will have a fun time here and you can also enjoy some snacks and drinks
If you're in SF, do yourself a favor and walk around Stow lake at Golden Gate park. You will NOT be disappointed! Beautiful. serene, feels like worlds away!
Perfect day and experience and the weather was right. An eye full of natural beauty and a destination off my bucket list for sure! Prices range from $28-$30+ with tax per hour for peddle boat as seen in pictures taken. Parking is free and pretty abundant here depending on which part of this place you choose to explore. Their is restrooms & a snack shack here with souvenirs & sweat shirts if you get cold.
Usually drive around the park is lovely and there is a paddle boat which takes u around the lake for a nice scenery
Such a pretty place to spend the day in San Francisco, away from the city yet right in the middle of it. You can rent row boats, paddle boats for 20-25 dollars an hour and float away on the lake.
There's a lot of picnic tables around the area, which is nice.
Water bikes very dirty. I hope they will take care of them more
What a fun date place!! It's so simple, just a row boat rental (around 25 dollars) and a simple course to row through. It's easy enough so that most people can do it and it's such an easy and relaxing date activity. It was a great escape from the city being in the water surrounded by turtles and birds in the water.
I recommend the row boat over the paddle boats just because it's a little easier to navigate once you get the hang of it, and it's not as loud as paddle boats where it makes a splashing noise constantly.
We got there at 11am on a Saturday and there was no wait!
Note: if you're eating on the boat, beware the birds will follow you
Really fun cafe. Good food and beer. Great spot for an event.
Visit the place at night for an intimate Jazz Airbnb concert, it was the perfect place, it is in the middle of the Golden Gate Park. It is very cold at night. They sell food and drinks, do not enter the bathroom. It has some #accessibility scales to enter the wheelchair room you need help.
Very kind employees, and I know food is good , but today waiting time was crazy : we cancelled the order.
It's easy to find, good signs. There is FREE parking (plenty). Lovely nature setting with many mallard hen ducks, Canadian geese & seagulls on the expansive, circular lake. Lots of different . We came Mid-week, during mid-afternoon. Uncrowded, it was easy to "check-in" to rent their pedal boat, $30/hr. (the time is not strictly enforced). The service (Sam) was efficient & friendly. There are a few benches ...we had our picnic lunch great walk/hike after our boating excursion. Highly recommend! Will return.
Great place to get something to eat and watch the world go by. I'm a fan of their cheeseburgers ($12, includes fries).
We were here on labor day weekend. There was lot of rush but the usher was very friendly, helpful and was keeping everything in order. We had a great time.
This is an open area next to Stow Lake inside Golden Gate Park. Lots of grassy areas and trees around the lake. You can rent a boat, take a leisure stroll, exercise, people watch....it's an open and tranquil outdoor space for all to enjoy. There's a waterfall about a 10 minute walk away.
I usually get a coffee there, sometimes a sandwich. It's convenient to break a walk. to sit and relax.
Beautiful location for relaxation and escaping the city life. Rent a paddle boat for ~$20-40 dollars and enjoy the scenery. Location contains food market, picnic tables, public restrooms, and duck. Don t forget the bread.
Very relaxing spot with benches and picnic tables alongside the lake. There is wheelchair access to the concession stand.
Quick service, but there are a lot of unusable boats sinking at the storage dock. Paddle boats are my personal favorite, and the views are amazing
I love cruising around the lake in their boats. Lots of fun for a family to do together
This is a wonderful oasis in the middle of a city. You can have a small picnic on the benches here. You must rent a boat and go around Stow Lake. It is very refreshing and relaxing to spend your leisure time here.
For those with flexible time to spend, there is no long lines for boat rental during weekdays...
This place is about the only thing open in all of Golden Gate Park (circa August, 2020). Food was surprisingly good, if a bit pricey. Some of the best hot dogs I've ever eaten. Foot longers on whole wheat buns. Very satisfying.
Some of the best sweet potato fries we've had, and the spousal unit is pretty demanding of her sweet potato fries. Great regular fries also-- but one order of either is plenty to share between two.
Pleasant place to stop and grab a bite while perching along the lake shore.
Actually quite pleasant to visit the park during quarantine times. Almost more dogs than people. Landscaping still lovingly maintained. Been visiting GGP as long as I remember, stretching back to at least 1956. So many lovely memories...
Great place and the hamburgers and fries are awesome
Not the most well run boathouse. The waits can be killer, exacerbated by the high number of "broken" boats. The snack stand is alright, nothing out of the ordinary: nachos, drinks, etc. The pedal boats have very little travel for the amount of pedaling you do. You get a lot more mileage from the row boats (assuming you can row well)
Great place for a quiet walk. Be sure to visit the water fall
Paddle boats that seat 4, Family Paddle boats that seat 6, row boats. We rented our paddle boat for an hour, which was long enough. Be sure to enjoy a walk around the lake, or a short hike up to the top of Strawberry Hill (the island in the middle of the lake). There are restrooms and a food counter serving burgers and such.
Great time. Used the paddle boat for an hour. Plenty of time. Saw a few different birds. Bigger than I thought.
