Always enjoyable events here. Affordable. Comfortable. There's really not a bad seat. Performances are close & intimate. Staff members & volunteeres are always pleasant & greet you warmly.
My son met his idol Secretary Norm Mineta at this beautiful theatre in downtown San Jose. SJSU is a gem in the city of San Jose, it's contribution to the city is truly praiseworthy.
Great venue, easy cheap parking next door and excellent programming
Every seat is a great seat. Nice beverage selection... Wish they offered a Pinot Noir. Meet & Greet with artist, Katherine Russell was FABULOUS!!!!!!!
Intimate venue for San Jose JazzFest Sarah McKenzie film and recording session.
You cannot go wrong with anything on this great campus
Fantastic Experience. My wife and I used to have season tickets when the Hammer Theater used to be the San Jose Rep and In the Heights production tonight was as good, if not better than many if the SJRep shows. Well done!
Awesome theater with amazing shows. Highly recommend you check it out, whether you are a local or visiting tourist. This theater has been underrated for a long time but the more recent performances have really blown audiences out of the water. Support local performers and the downtown community by coming to a few shows at the Hammer Theatre!
Seating within the theater beings you close to the artist(s) performing...no long distance viewing of what or who you came to see...for me that was Dee Dee Bridgewater. Comfortable seating. Good acoustics.
1st time visitor, was nice intimate setting. Only problem is location and parking. Already paid for the show, hate having to pay for parking too.
Great seating in an intimate theater with good acoustics.
My favorite place for breakfast. Friendly staff, large menu and delicious food.
Went to Humane Society Silicon Valley's Mutual Rescue Film Festival. Very nice and comfortable venue.
Good acoustics and image
Comfortable friendly staff
Saw a great dance group Saturday night, Jessica Lang. Also discovered that the venue has an extensive schedule of events. Many of these events do not get much publicly in the Mercury. Too bad! When the venue went dark a number of years ago I for one forgot about it. Really glad thate SJSU is bringing it back to life!
Support SJSU Theatre department by watching plays here!
I love this venue. It's nice and cozy every seat is a good seat. The staff here is very friendly and helpful.
I went to Hammer Theater to watch screening of Macbeth production. It was a good experience.
Fantastic venue for music. Great seating, great sound.
I have seen concerts/events/performance at this place. Any seat here is a good seat to see the stage IMHO. The sound system is not bad at all. Staff are accommodating and they have a snack bar! I appreciate the hot drinks :). SJSU use this place on some of their performances.
Really nice and cozy theater with decent drama and plays showings. Near the SJSU and free parking on the streets after 6 pm
SJSU Production of Bernstein's Mass at the Hammmer was epic!
Its really nice location to have events.was at the paseo demo
This place has the best plays and is a hidden gem in the downtown area
I work here for almost 10 months. Great place to work and great people. Learned a lot about theatre being an engineer.
Theatre, music, dance in the heart of SJ. Quickly becoming a community mainstay, bringing in events from near by and all over the world!
Love the atmosphere! It feels like you are so close to the stage when you are on the balcony.
Nice theater with two levels totaling about 565 seats. Advice when getting drinks at the lobby bar, they're not allowed inside the theater.
Great place if you would like to see a lower budget production. Not a bad seat in the house.
Nicely appointed small theater (500 seats) in the heart of San Jose. Owned by the city, managed by SJSU.
We had a lovely time watching my the New San Jose Ballet's production of The Nutcracker.
It's a good and comfortable place, I enjoyed the concert.
Clean, comfortable seats, great acoustics, and cozy . Nice place to see the ballet
A great venue for live theater and filmed versions of live theater. Sightlines are excellent to very good from pretty much any seat. There's even a very decent bar in the lobby. Overall, best venue for live theater in San Jose, along with the (considerably larger) California Theatre.
Great venue for plays and musicals. Not a bad seat in the house. Snack bar is fine but not the main reason to go. And plenty of restaurants to visit before or after.
A decent theater that s in the middle of downtown San Jose. I came here for cinequest and found that there was a good mix of people that came by. The theater I went to was like a auditorium and had enough space to seat a good amount of people. We were able to see the screen pretty well from our seats and the acoustics weren t bad. Overall, a simple theater with older decor and lesser known films.
Saw the Nutcracker ballet (children's version) at this theater, enjoyed the production and the theatre experience. Parking in a parking garage next door was easy and reasonable price ($5 on weekends).
My first time there. Almost all seats have great view of the stage. Good acoustics.
Saw Dee Dee Bridgewater w/ SJSU Jazz Orchestra- fantastic!
