Murray Downs golf and country club Reviews

We took a bus group here for dinner and barefoot bowls afterwards. The staff here were great to deal with and the meals ordered were at a very high standard across the group. Everyone was still talking about how much they enjoyed the bowls the next day.

Dropped in for lunch and ha no expectations of Murray Downs golf club (bistro).
Got a window seat over looking the course,nice and ordered. Not a huge menu but plenty of lunch specials padded it out. We selected barramundi and the open steak sandwich. Service was friendly, relaxed and efficient.
Our meals were served in good time and that's where things went from pretty good to well, actually, really good.
So happy we made the effort to cross the river and head out there(only 5-10 mins from Swan Hill).
The only negative, I didn't have my golf clubs .
Good food, well priced and served by lovely staff members in a beautiful setting.
To top things off, we can across a stunning bearded dragon on the way back to the carpark.

Really nice place to visit. Great course, friendly staff, immaculately clean bistro. Unfortunately tho the food is just average. Frozen ingredients , a salad bar that lacks any sort of pride put towards it. Such a shame because otherwise the venue is outstanding.

Good food and good service, pity about the bar, it seems poker machines and keno come before drink customers

Always love going to Murray Downs with my family for any event, birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Mother s Day etc. I have experienced their services since I was born and they have come a long way. Well done!

MURRAY DOWNS COUNTRY CLUB was a welcome back to regional Victoria. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay on the course and enjoyed the tasty, well presented meals.

Instead of enjoing a nice afternoon we had to leave because the power went down and nothing was working ver disappointment

Very good golf course . Also a great snack lunch over looking the track.

Went to have a drink with our kids out of the heat. Allowed to sign in and sit down. Once up to get a drink was told that males have to have a polo or tshirt on. No singlets... its 47 out side but all the females are allowed to wear a singlet. Seems a bit unfair to me. We left. Did look like a nice club though shame we really didn't get to see it

A nice place. The staff were helpful and friendly. The roast was a bit dry and not great balance on the proportions but other than that is was a very nice place for a meal with the family. Lovely views of the golf course in the balcony section and nice to watch people hit some balls.

It has come a long way since when it had opened more than 25 years ago,as i used to work there on the golf course up to 2001 and the murray downs resort motel until 2008.

Been going here for years have always loved the food coffee kids room and the general atmosphere. I decided to take the family out last Friday and kinda wish I hadn't now as it was an unpleasant experience. First I asked about getting a kids plate for myself(had gastric sleeve surgery and a doctors card saying that I have) was told no before I had the chance to explain my situation. So bought a plate for missus and 2 kids. Had the joy of watching them eat while I couldn't as I didn't want to pay $26 to eat $5 worth of food. Was watched like an eagle by some of the younger staff as I helped my kids get there food and then my missus food. Like they where waiting for me to pinch a snack off there plate which I never did at all. Roast meat was cold to touch sweet and sour meat was as hard as a rock (had to stab it to break it's concrete shell). Of the full plate of food I got my missus she was lucky to have eaten half of it which was a further waste of money. Then came time to take kids down to play room which they love. As I was signing in my daughter wanted to ask one of the younger ladies a question to which before she could even finish her sentence was rudely told to go and play. Not the first time her and my son have been spoken to that way either. I just chose to absorb her negativity but after this weekend gone it'll be fair to say it will be months if not years before I go back again which is a shame as I love the place in general.

Great resort for a golf get away and fantastic course

Excellent golf course. Best on the Murray and the resort is run by friendly, helpful staff.

Was up here recently after not playing Murray Downs Golf Course for about 25 years!
Played the course 3 days in a row and it was in mint condition!
The pro shop has a fantastic range of all the top brands and friendly staff.
If this isn t the best presented course on the Murray then show me another, I ll be making sure I m back playing here sooner than it took me to get back here for a second time!

Great golf course, it's world class. Friendly staff, great food. The poker nights are worth checking out.

Meal was terrible Moroccan spice on potato skins doesn't taste good

Called in for coffees. Good coffee whilst sitting comfortable lounge settees and chatting with friends.

Restaurant is terrific while offering a great diverse selection of did at affordable prices and great quality. Staff were all very helpful and supportive. Services such as child minding areas along with excellent membership benefits name this a visit you'll want to continue

Murray Downs Golf Club has beautiful green landscaped lawns which is very pleasing to the eye when seen from the entrance to the club and from the glass windows inside.
The food is reasonable. On the night we visited my wife had a lovely roast pork meal while I had an ordinary crumbled prawns. They could do a lot more with the dining area to break up the large expanse of tables which gives it a barn like appearance. They had live music on the night which was a good move as it gave the patrons something to take their attention. Overall a nice club but they can do better.

Murray downs is a awesome place we love it.Great club great golf course. It s is the best place around. Me and my wife are from California Gully , Bendigo and are hoping to come back later on. Cheers.

Great food however bit overpriced. I do like the many TV screens they have for sport. I was able to watch the Soccer and Tennis at the same time

I just love our annual trip to Murray Downs! Fantastic value package and such a beautiful golf course! Great food, the staff are friendly and helpful. The accommodation is good just maybe getting a little tired but lashings of hot water

EDIT: Response to owner. I was there on Saturday the 15th of June at 3:30pm. Thank you for your reply, I understand that one-off things can happen and will have to try your golf club again.

Had a pretty terrible customer service experience here on the weekend. Had never been to Murray Downs Club. Walked into reception area and was met by a receptionist who looked like she did not want to be there. I asked if this was where I pay for green fees, she said yes, then the phone rang and she answered it and began having a conversation with someone instead of asking them to hold. She then tried to serve me while talking on the phone and started handing me forms to apply for a membership when this was definitely not what I had asked for, so she obviously didn't listen to what I said. I tried to explain to her that I just wanted casual access to the course for nine holes while she was still talking to someone on the phone. Apparently this was all too hard for her and she rudely told me that no this is not where I pay for green fees and that I need to go down to the pro shop. Didn't tell me where that was, had to find it myself.

The course is quite beautiful and great to play on, but even that doesn't bring my rating up due to the expensive green fees.

First visit great a year later not so. Lost our order nothing like eating when everyone else has finished. Won't be back next time

Food quite ordinary and 1 of the 6 children with us waited 50 minutes for his meal. The other 5 children and 8 adults had all finished their meal and this poor boy was still waiting for his.

Service is appalling. Food is what you would expect but it still disappoints.
