Montgomery Inn Boathouse Review

Not real BBQ. Tastes horrible. I got the sample platter and tried pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. City BBQ is better. The sauce is also horrible. It tastes like they boil the meat and not smoke it. I am from Texas and know what good smoked meat is supposed to taste like. Dont even get me started on what they charge for this garbage.

We showed up an hour before they closed but they said they were already closed and wouldn't let us come in

For my first time eating there I was very impressed with how quick we got seated and got our food. Food was very delicious and fresh. Could have a few more options on their menu but the ribs and pork chop I got was very tasty.

Always a staple. Best BBQ sauce out there! Only place I'll eat ribs!

Our reservations were for later in the evening and even though our waiter had been on site all day, he took fantastic care of us! Hats off for the professionalism! As always, the food was delicious.

Really good ribs. Pretty good brisket and chicken looked good. Shrimp was ok, not a fan of fried shrimp

Great location & views. Excellent service, our waiter "Dizzy" was very good. Food was good, I had Ribs & Shrimp. Shrimp were just okay.

The most delicious lip dish I've ever had.
The harmony of the soft meat and the sauce, properly sown, was perfect.

What an experience! First and foremost, the view of the river and skyline is delightful. The service was great and I really appreciated the personal touch of the manager stopping by to make sure everything was great. We really enjoyed everything we ate and left stuffed.

It was our first visit. The food was very good, the staff was kind and helpful, and the views from the outdoor seating areas were nice. Highly recommend.

Both the food and service were excellent. There were 9 of us celebrating my two daughters birthdays, and there were no issues of either food or service dealing with our mixed group of adults and children.

This BBQ joint is pretty good but not as good as traditional southern BBQ. Our waitress was awesome.The views outside are nice but inside is way darker than it should be. If you are sitting facing the windows it will be hard to see the person in front of you because there is so much light from outside and not enough inside.

Ribs were too fatty with grizzle. Saratoga chips were a disappointment. Food was just warm, when it served at the table. Excellent service staff. Loved the sports items & pictures.

Atmosphere is beautiful, elegant, good view of the river. Service was decent. Mac and cheese and key lime pie were very good, filet mignon was OK. Would go back.

I'd consider myself a bbq connoisseur, and this was hands down the best briscuit sandwich of my life. The sauce was unreal! The macaroni is absolutely to die for too!

Honestly can't beat the ribs and their sauce. Good family place.

I haven't always had the best experience at Montgomery Inn, but I have to say that this particular visit to the boathouse was a lot of fun. I had the filet, and can honestly say it was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is trying to provide safe dining options, which I appreciate. The tent they have for outdoor seating is nice and provides a lovely view of the river, however, I don't love that it's red and causes a red cast to fall over everything especially during daylight hours. That may not bother most people, though.

Had a great time. A great atmosphere, the food is delicious. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable.

Last week was our first time in this good restaurant. But It is no doubt not the last. We enjoyed the evening a lot with the efficient service, with the superb food and wine and with the modest payment. We will absolutely visit there in a short time.

They used to have great ribs a long time ago, but today it is a give and take. Sometimes they are great and sometimes they are dry. So I have switched to ordering a duck meal and you can't beat that. Views are great and a lot of celebrities visit this restaurant.

I visited back in 1997, and have not forgotten the delicious food (ribs & baked potato - I dribbled BBQ sauce on everything) or amazing view.
I do hope to get back someday.

We enjoyed the BBQ ribs immensely. We expected more from a place of this reputation regarding the salad (bagged lettuce) and Mac and cheese that tasted like it came from a boxed mix. Desserts were good and a nice end to the meal.

Love this place, the view is great, the food was to standards, but prices have gone up a bit. This was an anniversary dinner for my wife, myself and two kids. This was a great time, but I don't know it was worth $120.00. Rib are around $30.00 a plate now. Considering they aren't even made on location anymore, I'd like to see the price justified in some way. Oh, if you're going in the hopes to score some of that amazing salted rye bread with your thirty dollar ribs... They no longer have it. They also no long have the rolls either. Just some sourdough...

I took my father to Montgomery inn for his birthday. We went at lunchtime, and it was wide open. They seated everyone at the windows overlooking the river. The service was quick, friendly and professional. The ribs were tender, moist and delicious as usual. Our server, Tiffanie, deserves a shout out for her professionalism. Well done.

Food channel was right. Great barbaque sauce. It could make anything taste great.

Overpriced and overrated quality. The size of the ribs and amount of edible meat is less than the competition, and the price is higher. The rib sauce is nothing to write home about, and the ingredients list contains a lot of junk and unnatural stuff. It is good food, just overpriced and mainly popular just because it's on the river.

Always delicious! If you don't like crispy saratoga chips ask for soggy.

I never have been as impressed with the food here as my friends and family. Usually noisy and crowded to boot.

I had a prior reservation for 2 at 8:30 on a Saturday evening, we didn't get seated until 9:15 which was frustrating. The staff was friendly, but they never seemed to be in a hurry. We ordered the signature ribs and they were fine, certainly not as good as it was hyped up to be. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience.

I don't really understand the hype. We waited for two hours to get a table which forced us to buy a lot of overpriced drinks while we waited. The draught selection was poor and the menu had more beers than were actually on tap. The ribs were good, but nothing to rave about. In all honesty the Mac and cheese was the best thing I had.

Food was bland, boring and expensive. Absolutely not worth those insane prices for food that tastes like it came from Hosses. I gave it one star for being on the river and one star for good service.

We have gone here for years and always enjoy it. Came in last week with a party of 9 and received excellent service. Everyone had ribs and enjoyed their meal. One suggestion, though.....the bathrooms could use an update.
