We visit every year with a group of about 20 people. The staff is great. The food is good. Some places have issues splitting the check when over certain sizes. Not this place. They do a separate check for each person. We tried to find some other places that is willing to do this and we always end up back at lucky oyster.
This was my second visit to this restaurant and I have to say it was 100 better. Our server was friend and informed. Food was prepared great. A little off the tourist area of the beach but that for me was another plus.
The meal was cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. Recommend others to visit.
Love, love, LOVE Mama J's Kitchen. I pretty much always get the catfish, which is the BEST fried catfish I've EVER HAD... but it's all good. Just get what you like and see for yourself. Waits can be prodigious, but it's a fun place and everyone's SO NICE, it's no a bad thing. Great staff, generous martinis, incredibly delicious catfish! Nothing about it that I don't like.
Love this restaurant! They have great food, drinks, and desserts. Rockfish nite, fish tacos, fried haddock, and New Orleans bread pudding are some of my personal favs! Large seating area, which I m sure contributes to them never having a wait for lunch or dinner. Knowledgeable staff, usually recommends great options and shares honest options of unpopular menu items. Food is usually serviced very timely.
Absolutely love coming here to have some yummy food. Only upsetting things where that I had to ask for a kids menu they didn't just give it to us. Also our service kinda sucked. She was slow and none attentive to us. I ended up having to ask a different server for the bill.
This was my first time there. Happy hour with friends. Food was yummy. Drinks were properly poured!
The nachos with Blackened Chicken are my go too, but everything ive tried always comes out delicious!
Oysters are usually great, but 2day they were sandy, shelly and one was totally dead
Finally some decent raw clams on the half shell, very small but definitely delicious.
We were a group of 5people. I wouldn't order the "made fresh daily" tuna salad sandwich again. It was not fresh... Made fresh daily, has several applications.
Awesome seafood, not a long wait most of the time and food is delicious always. Prices great.
The best seafood place in the Red Mill/Strawbridge area. Come for happy hour. Very reasonable prices.
Our group had a waitress name Megan and she was really nasty. Then she tries to charge me for food that she never even brought me. Will never fp back again
Alyssa was our server. On point! Food was excellent, although the Hatteras platter was a little bit smaller than expected. Overall Great experience
First time trying this place and it was great. Parking was a bit challenging but only because everyone was going there. Everything we ordered was spot on and absolutely delicious. Melody was our server and could not have been better. Price was very affordable and well worth the quality. Would definitely recommend and will return often.
So, I ordered a ribeye and chicken breast and I have to say they were quite good, but for the price it could have been a bit more. The decor is actually very nice, I'm sure this is a great place, I just wasn't very impressed. Also, if you are trying to find a nice quiet place for date night, this is not it.
It was quite noisy but not at all bothersome because the nature of the restaurant. Bloody Mary I ordered was a reasonable $5.50. Food was excellent.
Last time I went for brunch it was amazing. Today the menu had like 10 items. I order the crab cake Benedict which was literally a tablespoon of crab meat on top of the normal Benedict. Home fries were cold also. Last time I'll eat brunch here.
We didn't get to eat because the bar was full. If you want to take advantage of the great happy hour-get there early!!
Love the food. Waitress nice. The ladies that sat us wasn't as pleasant. Probably was having a bad day.
Very friendly waitstaff and great food. Huge selections of food and drinks. A little pricey, but worth it!
Fresh seafood done right. Warm sports bar atmosphere. Good for families. Moderate prices.
Try the Oyster Stew. This was close to the stew I grew up with and it was just great. Five plump oysters and a broth that was spicy and light. After that it was all down hill. No lunch menu at 1PM on Saturday. The haddock basket was too heavily breaded and the sweet potato fries were so-so. Close to send them back quality. Lunch for two with ice water and a tip was $50, lunch? Maybe, might, try them another time for lunch but probably not.
it was a wonderful place .the food was so delicious and the portions was so large omg it was was great
Went for a Mother's Day / Birthday dinner, when asked about how long the wait was, I was told 20 - 25 mins, so put our party of 4 on the list and got a pager.. 20 mins after seeing quite a few people go in and be seated, I ask again only to find out I as put on the list as party of 2. Okay we're finally seated, we order, get out order...wife ordered some kind of combo the she and our server put together only to find out 15 mins later the cook wouldn't do it. I get my order, simple flounder sandwich and didn't like how hard it was fried or how it tasted, took one nibble, didn't eat it nor the old baked potato but was still charged for it even after telling the server I didn't like it or want it. Not going back!
Food great a little loud especially with children around
Good food, prompt service. Local favorite. Always packed so get there early or plan to wait.
Great food and great service. The rockfish bites are delicious!
Great service! We showed up 15 minutes prior to closing with a large group. As soon as we realized they were about to close we turned to leave. The staff insisted it was good and got us to a table. At no time did they rush us or make us feel unwelcome. Food was great!
Came in for lunch, great specials and food was delicious. Bartender wasn't the friendliest.
Good food, but they served whitefish in place of flounder
Good food, good atmosphere, and good service. Great place to bring a crowd!
Great seafood and atmosphere at reasonable prices. Snow crablegs we're delish and the seafood penne was great. Servings are huge.
I eat here every time I'm in Virginia Beach and am never disappointed. The seafood is always fresh and plenty of it. The only complaint I have is their cole slaw.. semi-satisfactory :) Other than that, you can't go wrong going here for seafood. The atmosphere and the service are always great.
Really cute place with lots of beachy decor. Great place to go if you are a tourist and looking for a good seafood restaurant. Food was great. The only thing is if you aren't sitting in a booth, space around the tables is a bit tight.
