Larnach Castle Review

The place to be in Dunedin. NZ's only castle, comfortable rooms with view and superb dinner in majestic surroundings

The castle itself is interesting, the cafe has a great selection, and the gardens are beautiful, despite visiting in early spring. The only issue for me is the price. We got a deal through GrabOne and I am glad that we did. The price of admission is far too high to wander around an old mansion and pretty gardens.

Beautifully restored castle, wonderful garden and breathtaking views. Our guide was very knowledgeable and brought the history of the Larnach family and Larnach castle to life. The garden is amazing with beautiful colour and eye catching features.

Spooky, interesting, intriguing and different. We had a great day exploring around the area and finished up with larnach castle and afternoon tea in the ball room. It was fabulous. Thanks so much for a great time

Very expensive to walk around the gardens, but a must see in Dunedin

Magical place to stay with the kids for a couple of days. Xmas dinner was very special.

The castle is impressive - not because of its age (is not that old) but rather because of the owners who have just bought it and put it back in practice for generations. The garden is beautiful - could be a bit better signposted. Parking also suitable for camper vans. Price increases but ok. We wanted to try the restaurant. Unfortunately we were ignored by the wait staff when we wanted a place for two questions - it seems to be designed for a larger group. View from the tower nice. One more note: there is a leaflet for everything and everyone, these are partly necessary to get along - but are also a real environmental sin - a digital offer would be cool.

well maintained, nice pleasant place but not a great ancient historical site, ticket was expensive as far as I remember was NZ $37 for single person
