Grand Daddy Hotel Cape Town Review

Unique place, well worth a visit. Check out a movie on the roof in summer, or stay in a caravan up there too

A one-stop shop for dinner, drinks,tapas and the Monday night drive in movie, not to mention the suites...

Visited the Rooftop Bar, drinks selection is great, the staff are friendly and helpful.

Great cocktails, nice bar on the roof. Wish I'd been there on a Monday so I could've gone to their film showing.

We stayed in a rooftop Airstream and loved it. There was a movie playing on the rooftop deck the night we arrived, which with our "room" tight there made for a cozy experience. Oh and they gave out popcorn, candy and blankets; that was a nice touch!

I unfortunately haven t had the opportunity to stay here, but I love to visit their rooftop bar and admire the stunning views of the city and Table Mountain. Very reasonably priced and their pizzas are delish

We stayed in one of the trailers. Spectacular. The view is excellent. The location too.
The reception was friendly and very welcoming. The room service is taken care of and the cleaning lady is very friendly.
The restaurant's food is very good and breakfast has a huge variety.
We became friends with the friendly gentleman who takes us by the elevator (classic) and got to know everything about the region.
In short: an experience that everyone should have. The Grande Daddy Hotel is much more than a hotel ...

This hotel has a very fancy and unique interior. The roof terrace is very nice and invites you to relax or celebrate with friends. The drinks are reasonably priced and very tasty. The staff is always friendly and flexible.

We've been staying in the Grand Daddy Hotel for 5 nights in an airstream trailer on the roof. Although there is no view on the roof (mainly surounded by higher buildings), it is very cool experience to stay in an trailer right next to the rooftop bar. Every trailer is stylish stuffed with another topic.

The Grand Daddy is located in the heart of Cape Town on lively Long Street, short walking distance to the V&A Waterfront.

The staff is very friendly and helps you with advises and booking for activities or restaurants.

The breakfast in the Thirty Ate Resaurant located on the ground floor is delicious and freshly prepared, even though the system with the 75R limit is a bit special.

So I wamrly can recommand the hotel to everyone!

Wonderful feel of yesteryear...Great chilled hangout. No loud music unneccessary disturbances able to relax and have great conversations over drinks....

Great place, ideal location in central Cape Town. The staff is really efficient and kind. The bedroom was very nice too with a super comfortable bed, nice pillows. The restaurant and the bar on the roof top are ideal for families and parents.
We highly recommend this nice and cozy place! No bad surprises and a big and warm thank you to all the staff again x

Great stay, we spent 6 nights at the Grand Daddy from February 18 to 24, 2019. Thanks to the staff of the hotel for their availability and kindness: Pitschu, Patrick, Richard, Patou, Eddy, Hodwa and all the others are very professional. In the restaurant we eat very well, the only regret is that it would take one or two typically African menus. We will come back with the kids.

Very nice rooftop to have a drink on a warm summer day. Better views to be had in Cape Town though but for a Long Street rooftop bar Grand Daddy is up there.

Good hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Top location, breakfast ok. Ideally, the middle price room on the 3rd floor, big enough for 2 people and very quiet for the location.

Very friendly personnel, clean and tidy rooms. The trailers on the rooftop are an experience! I will come again.

This is one very cool place . Almost all the rooms are unique , Up on the roof is a bar and chill area and a outdoor movie theater area. There are also beautiful trailers to hire out for the night. Those silver ones that are from the 1960's that are luxurious and chic .. yes on the roof

The caravans are really nice!
The night is however a bit noisy. The wifi is very weak or almost non-existent in the caravans. The bathroom is not very practical.

Went to the sky bar for drinks - shame there isn't a better view over the city, but it's a nice shady and fun place for a cold drink anyway, the airstreams give a cool retro feel. Drinks also not too pricey.

Go up to the roof with one of the oldest elevators in Cape Town and enjoy a drink at the rooftop bar. When you come out of the door go to the left or right to get to the more comfortable seats.

We got engaged here on valentines day... corny yes, but the whole experience was out of this world and I was assisted every step of the way by the house staff to make it even more magical!

Old school movies on the roof and sleeping in trailers from a bygone era (in exquisite style I might add) this place is truly worth the price tag!

beautiful set up. nice ambience. well refined finishes.
you need a diligent usher, its not nice to walk in and have people staring at you like you are lost. an usher makes one feel welcome the moment one steps in. that will cost you one star.

Good staff, food very reasonably priced, quirky rooftop bar complete with Airstream caravans.
