All I can say, what a disgusting place the staff are as run down as the hotel the best thing for this place is pull it down and start again, it's not doing Folkstone any favours

Very good price, but the place is so understaffed. We got in at 2 pm and saw the queue to check-in was very long. We went to the bar for a drink and went back to reception 30 mins later. The queue was just as long. We waited in the queue for 45 minutes. The queue stayed like that until 10pm. Even after then, there were always a few people waiting. Once you're booked in, it's not a bad place considering how crazy cheap it is, but if you ever need to speak to a member of staff then things get annoying. Like the accomodation, the food is OK for the price. Veggie options {particularly at breakfast) are, unsurprisingly, limited/basic.
Wi-Fi was awful and the struggles to find rooms on database
Very basic, showers are tempremental. Staff are really nice and friendly and very welcoming. We ate in once, I'd rate it 3 out of 5* cheap and cheerful. Absolutely fantastic veiws from the rooms. Beds are standard. Overall a nice stay.
Staff good and help full,, food Ok , the public area's highly used ,,showed sign of wearing out, and paint, and varnished surfaces ,all showing wear ,,could do with a good ,going over, Bingo every night ,plus other entertainment most evenings I think I would go back, yes
What a grand hotel indeed. There are certainly signs of wear and of maintenance that could have been finished more professionally but overall it is a decent state of repair. It is made comfortable by spaciousness (not found in many modern hotels these days), comfortable furniture and good heating in December.
The hotel retains a real sense of charm and character. It is a great place to stay just to indulge yourself, with good food, great service and varied entertainment. Of course, the happy hour doesn't hurt either! Then, of course, there is the excellent access to the continent via Dover, which is very close.
I stayed for 3 nights and would gladly have stayed longer. I,m not a bingo fan but if you like it you'll be well catered for. The evening's entertainment started after bingo, which made it a bit late for me but if you have the staying power you can 'fill your boots' as they saying goes. There is plenty to enjoy at the Grand Burstin in Folkestone.
Disgusting hotel. Filthy dated. Never uae this. It should be condemned
Better than expected. Folkestone is lovely and Sunny Sands Beach is 5 minutes from the hotel.
I had turned up at silly o clock to attend a friends wedding for 2. The wedding was held at Lymph castle..I had no booking just a pray they had room at the Inn.. Bookings stated rooms available from 2, the man at reception managed to get More
Old Hotel quite run down no atmosphere. Carvery not very good
Hotel is really run down from my last visit, staff really nice and helpful and the food in the victorian restaurant was really nice.
Meals very nice staff very friendly rooms comfortable
This is a ruin! Parts of the underground car park are closed due to the lack of construction - staff neglected - trucks across the street drive into the harbor all night - beds look as if they hadn't been made and I don't want to know what stains on the armchairs are, only English bus tourists, the elevators fall sporadically .. hopefully there will be nothing on the car tomorrow
Conclusion: never, never again!
Dirty rooms with a bad smell, very cheep breakfast with no options of juice/squash elevators stuck by cleaners in the morning with linen trolley, doors cards that they are not working.
1. They do not answer phones promptly. 20minute wait. 2) not enough disabled parking 3) checked us into a room, not vacant. We thought about if we were different people they could have been robbed. 4) smoking room for non smoker and not informed of that. 5) r6usty/limescale showerhead 6) dirty loo brush 7) doors bang loudly 8) nothing grand about it except that it has a vast amount of rooms. 9) lack of customer service skills only good thing was the view from the higher room 10) booked into a twin room not a double room as requested on booking.
We have just returned from a three night stay at the Grand Burstin, a very pleasant stay indeed. Many improvements have been made over the last few months which I understand is mainly due to a new General Manager and of course a hard working support team who are friendly and always very helpful. There is just one thing that would benefit guests who are not that steady on their feet and that is a Grab Rail fitted on the wall as the handles on the bath are low when showering. This would not be too costly I would think. Apart from that the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is good with a good choice. We have been coming a few years now and look forward to our next stay. N. Mead, Essex.
This hotel was good the rooms were clean there was a good choice of food restaurant staff were very helpful we had a good view of the sea, anybody who complains abouy this hotel really wants to pay the price of a boarding house and get the quality of a 4/5 star hotel. I enjoyed my time there.
Bar prices ridiculous, hotel need some serious TLC staff very pleasant. Entertainment very poor
We visit here a lot. It's an outdated hotel, but the rooms are comfy, the entertainment is great, and price is fantastic. Parking is terrible, but the hotel have over five hundred rooms and only about 150 spaces so this is expected, there is however ample parking within a few minutes walk. Views from upper rooms are nice, the rear of the hotel needs a tidy up though. We are returning again in a couple of months.
Is a really good hotel for the price reminds me I was Butlins but in a hotel
Excellent stay in September, very good customer service and good choice of food
Easy going Hotel. Self serving restaurant with good evening entertainment.
It is a very large hotel right on the coast, very busy.
The dinner was a great buffet.
It is very cheap.
Past glory, great view but otherwise everything just not
A bit run down. Some good walks and nice views... Watch out for the gulls...
the grand burstin hotel was nice the service good and the people were friendly.
Grubby, long queues for the reception, parking is really difficult and the car park is dangerous. We scratched our car trying to navigate around laundry trolleys and smoking staff
Last minute holiday find. Loved everything from the food to location. Recommend a balcony sea view room.
If you want a night away from the kids (or take them with you) then you have plenty of rooms tO choose from. The prices are always reasonable, the rooms clean. Basically you can go for the basic or best it's up to you. Food is OK with prices to match your choice of dinning. Remember if you don't like your room, you can always say, they seem happy enough to provide another.
What a wonderful place to stay, good food, helpful staff, clean and tidy rooms and a superb location to allow you to explore Folkeston.
Had the unlimited buffet Sunday lunch. Very good value, with a good selection and friendly and accommodating staff. Recommended.
Fantastic views-although there were noisy diggers across the street
Not the most modern of hotels, but overall a good stay, Always busy, perfect for a visit to Folkestone harbour arm
Nice place...rooms are standard and its hard to sleep on the 1st floor with the entertainment on til late
Really like this place. Eyesore on the outside, but great inside. Very clean and comfortable. Very nice staff. Good atmosphere. Amazing value too.
Appalling service and substandard ,secondrate rooms.
Cheap and cheerful is all I can say. You get what you pay for.
Basic and . Good place to stay when visiting the great harbour of Folkestone.
Stayed here for the first and glad to say last time,I paid extra for executive twin waste of money room had balcony that was the only difference between that and normal standard.ran out of hot water due to room next door apparently.overall decor needs upgrading this could be a stand out hotel.only saving grace staff were friendly.
Basic rooms but spotless with a great view of Folkestone Harbour
I've spent time in better toilets than this excuse for a hotel.
Terrible food (microwave cuisine disguised as something more elaborate) and terrible rooms.
The entertainment is OK and the staff are OK too, quite helpful but ultimately I think they know they are fighting a losing battle.
Overall- don't waste your money!
Bed for the night. Still has smoking rooms?!?! Might have been 'grand' when it opened, but it's a dump now...
Really good value for money, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean sheets and towels. Good location.
Dated and worn out fixtures and fittings, corridors like something out of the shining. Exterior of the windows crusted with sea salt and dirt, we cleaned a small patch through the open window so we could see out. Stairwell was a bit whiffy and there was an Asda supermarket trolley abandoned in our corridor for the entire length of our stay.
Had a good night's sleep, would definitely stay again if in the area.
My advice would be to pay a little extra and book an executive room.
Very outdated bedroom furniture might have come from the titanic . Decor needs redoing and the bathroom needs better cleaning . No shower gel in dispencer for shower so had to use small bar of soap , dirty bath mat and wee stains round bottom of toilet seat . Not to mention the queue for checking in took bout 45 mins to get room key . And tea cup still had tea stains in it before using it after i washed it out
Very tired and run down needs s lots of refurb but food and drink fine staff very helpful and clean
Cheap. Friend highly recommended this hotel. Rooms r good but furniture shabby n ceiling also.
Would of been a 3 star if we got bunk beds and a mini bar absolute let down so so disappointed
Very run down and chaotic. Ceiling fell in ,in our room had to be moved to another room which wasn't much better. Would not recommend this hotel it has seen better days, also nothing to do in surrounding area. Lots of places boarded up and no longer in use. I would suggest going a few miles up the road to Deal much nicer. Just to add that the staff at the grand were quite helpful and friendly
Cheap but run down, very much in need of a refresh.
Zero reception
Very dirty bathroom, all rusty and dirty toilet paper, patchy carpet and beds with hair.
Unsafe (drunks wandering around the hall).
Sconsigliatissimo
Not a bad place called in there for a drink this evening bit tired could do with a refurbe and a lick of paint but otherwise good
Good value for money although very noisy at night making it hard to sleep till after 3am most of noise was out side to be fair .food ok a basic menu .rooms cleaned to good standard parking was bad on sat evening due to several parties and a big wedding.lots ocars double parked so you couldn't get out once you had parked .
A beautiful hotel great food and views over folkestone
This is a run down hotel but what fantastic staff and feel good factor
Absolutely awful hotel bath full of dirt, bed uncomfortable, huge draft coming through windows, then be expected to be woken up to a fire alarm in the middle of the night and for that to be going off for a hour from 2am till 3 when you have a meeting early in the morning! Manager then refused to give any sort of refund or anything to compensate the issue they had that what makes me never want to stay there again
Poor management
Awful cleaners
And not well maintained
All in all a awful stay strongly recommend you to avoid!
We booked expecting cheap and cheerful... it is cheap but not at all cheerful. We arrived at 4 the car park was already full and the queue to check in was out the door. So we went for a walk and early dinner and came back at 6.20, queue was still epic. We waited 2 hours! TWO FULL HOURS. My children are 2 and 6 and the two year old is generally in bed by 7 ... she was so exhausted she literally wet herself. Did the staff do anything to speed the process and their monumental imcompetence up? No. Did they offer anything to help us get two exhausted children to their beds in a resonable time. Nope. Were we offered any compensation for the fact we didnt get in our room till 8.30? Course not. Then when we were in we fiund the hotel is literally falling apart, loads of stuff doesn't work or is crumbling and extremely dated. Its clean, this is the one amd only positive.
If you can get a night for a cheap price it's fine and will do the job, I wouldn't pay too much to stay though. It's located in an excellent spot of the town. There was no air conditioning in the rooms and the windows only open very slightly so rooms can feel very warm and stuffy especially in the summer months. Staff are quite nice and helpful. Didn't try the food so can't comment.
If this was the last hotel in England I would not stay here again. The hotel was very close to live up to its name. No organisation at meal times just a free for all. Bar staff very unfriendly. Overall a stay that has made us to make the decision not to use National Holidays again
Brilliant place. Best Sunday carvery in Folkestone by miles
This place is a proper pit. Bird droppings on the inside of the room?! How does that even happen!? Noisy, unbelievably dirty and I'll taken care of. Avoid like the plague if your jabs aren't up to date!
Great place to stay..staff are nice but and this is a big but not worth the money the hole place is in.diss repair beyond a.lick.of paint now fells like you have gone back in time 1908.. even the bog seat had gaffer tape holding it together I wouldn't stay hear again
Friendly. Dated. Bissy. More of a holiday camp feel for me not in a bad way. Just remind me of being at the holiday camp in the late 60
It's probably the only hotel in Folkestone that has plenty of room for kids to play and enjoy while you are having a beer or two with the live music and acts that they put on the kids love them got a swimming pool too which is a win win definitely for the kids and the hotel is situated right on the sea front with great views
If you don't go in expecting the best, you won't be disappointed. Location is fantastic, clean towels every day and the rooms were clean, albeit very outdated. Food was average but there is entertainment every night and the alcohol is reasonably priced. Go down the pier to the right of the hotel and the harbour, it's great down there with great views and different cuisines to try. The lighthouse at the end is a pub and it's a nice walk. There is also an outdoor cinema there which was also nice
For the price I paid this is a fair review. The room size was very good with an amazing view of the cliffs, Dover and France from my window. The communal areas are very tired looking and the lifts I had to use the one on the next floor down More
