One of iconic place in Bali, please see the Balinese Barong dancer and don't forget to bring your sun block
The downside : it's kind of suprising for me to see that there's several employee who's struggling with english. Considering GWK is one of the biggest international tourist spot----Aaaand, online taxis are forbidden in that area, making it harder for tourists if they only want a quick visit.
The upside :
THE PLACE IS SOOOO BEAUTIFUL AND BREATHTAKING! The employees are quick to respond and very helpful. The performers are giving their all eventhough sometimes the hall is almost empty. And suprisingly, the price for street vendors around the spot is NOT PRICEY AT ALL! (You should visit this place at night. The view is top notch)
And suprisingly, my favorite spot is the Souvenir Shop, Kencana! Their stuff is nicely packaged and doesn't looks cheap at all, look as good as the Aiport's Souvenir Shop, but with MUCH, MUCH, CHEAPER PRICE.
Huge balinese culture site, giant statues and breezy areas. Tickets per april 2019, for domestic adult 80k IDR, children 60k IDR, foreigners 125k IDR and children 100k IDR.
Appreciate the government that keep the local values and make it great tourism spot. Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue had finished yet the access in that building is still limited, another areas have great sightseeing and photo spot though.
Surprisingly amazing and great place to spend a day in Bali. There are many attractions and the statue itself is amazing
Nice and authentic cultural place. Variety of show, perfect match with traveller.
Many things to do, and awesome places with culture and many dancing show,
Good place for sight seeing. If you're not lazy to walk, the place is amazing. Lots of big statues, and places to take picture.
What a perfect place to enjoy lovely panorama of southern part of Bali from high land.
It is a nice venue also for any event, gala dinner, and enjoying Balinese cultural performance.
What I love from this place is enjoying kecak dance and proceed to dinner at Jendela Resto
Amazing!!! You would not find place like this in any other country!
Good view
Reasonable entrance fee, but beware for additional such as buying photo, top viewing (can't take pictures there)
For you who love to walk.... I do, so I enjoy....
Imagine a disused quarry housing a strip-mall and you ll have some idea of what s in store. The scale of the statue is impressive but the best view may well be from the car-park before you pay the exorbitant entry fee. A contrived faux-cultural tourist trap.
You have to save energy before explore all of this place !!
There is free shuttle bus from parking lot to ticket counter..
Don't bother at least until it's finished and you can go inside and up the main statue. This place is totally discombobulated to say the least. Even the car park isn't finished. Top tip, don't go in the middle of the day, you are not allowed to take food and drinks in and there are only a few places to buy very expensive water so you going to get very very hot and dehydrated walking around this huge site. It's wasn't till we got to the huge statue that we found out there is a bus service and then because we didn't have the bus ticket they didn't want us to get on the return trip to the car park. That was a 2klm walk in midday sun. Crazy.
The Ultimate Tourist Trap. They charge U 3 different places. Total BS.
Amazing place. One of thhe most beautiful place to be and be immersed with Balinese n Indonesia Culture! THANK YOU
Great place to spend your time while in Bali and getting familiar with their culture
It's cultural place. So it's amazing to see Garuda Wisanu and other Godess of Hindu such as Goddess Lakshmi.
Overall just great, the view, arts, statue, and the local cultural show was amazing. But i wondering why one of statue doesnt complete? I came here for the first time on 2005 and comeback 2018 that statue seems not completed yet.
Amazing big statues, the main one can be seen from really far.
Awesome statue ! Not quite finished atm as we cannot take lift to the top yet. Purchase and take the golfcart up to the statue locations if travelling with kids or elderly.
It was magnificent! Can't wait for it to be finished
Came here just to look at the statue everybody's talking about and it is really beautiful and gigantic. I came around 5pm and didn't get the shuttle bus ticket but decided to walk to the statue anyway. It's worth every step.
The Garuda statue is made of copper and brass, cost almost $100 million to make (!!!) It is meant to be Indonesia's tallest statue, which is taller than the Statue of Liberty for comparison. We couldn't really get a sense of how magnificent it really is since viewing it from most areas of the park didn't allow us to get up close.
I would think that only if you have a guided tour or read up about the cultural aspects that are in the park would you then enjoy your visit. Otherwise, without an appreciation of the stories and significance of this place, it might not be worth visiting. Do also try to catch their cultural performances to make the most of your visit. They have a schedule of show times posted on their website.
Also, do prepare to spend at least 1.5 hours here as it can get quite crowded with a lot of tourists.
Overall, we enjoyed it as we found some nice spots for good photos.
Note: There was quite a long queue for the shuttle that you have to take from the car park area, so do bring an umbrella and water to stay hydrated!
Not very much to see. You have to pay an additional IDR 125.000 to get inside the statue.
Not very many attractions here, but those few are totally worth it
There are a number of displays of historical significance. There is a large rock carving of the mythical bird Garuda which is very impressive. There is also an enormous copper and brass sculpture of the Hindu god Wisnu perched on Garuda. There are also interactive displays and a gift shop to purchase momentos of your visit.
Would love to see a cable car to go up to the main statue, instead of golf cars and bike.
Waste of time. Beautiful statues but that's all. Pay 150k for entrance, should paid another 150k to go inside statue for a museum and a view of Bali. Not worth it. No clear exit sign, staff aren't helpful either. Asked for directions to staffs only to have us run around in circles
The designer was awesome! Contribute to these beloved country with such of masterpiece like this. Huge artistic work in national park.
Since 2010 the Garuda wisnu kencana isn't finished yet. here's some photos from Soundrenaline Concert 2016.!
Really nice place, be prepared to walk a lot. You can hire bikes or other means of travel but get ready to pay it's all bit expensive
You will find big statues round and all over. You will have the view of Bali when you go on top. There is an event of kecak dance in the evening time. You even find some place where people use electric cycles to play and have fun.
Great place for some sport activity like running, this place also have cultural show daily
Actually,im so glad. This is my first time to visit bali. And i excited when i watch a Traditional Dance,Yes Kecak dance.
Huge place, huge statue, prepare your feet. Best to go here late afternoon or in the morning.
nice statutes
you can get some best spots in this area
and, thhe landscape of the nature from the top place is just cool
you can feel the fresh air, beautiful sky. and you will feel the nature
visiting Garuda Wisnu Kencana park is a must if you visit Bali Island
Very nice place to visit. Although the final project of the park is not likely to be finish somewhere in 2017 or 2018, the park still have the Garuda and Wisnus statue available for taking picture and they have some other show like dance available everyday. They should have add more atractions to the park
Beautiful place to go with your family. Spend your quality time here and enjoy the Garuda Statue, Wisnu Statue and Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue. Take time because this beautiful place is big. For lunch you can go to the small restaurants surrounding the place.
I can't give a true review as i never actually entered the park. I saw this huge statue up on the mountain, dominating the view, from the beach at Jimbaran and wondered what on earth it was. I got a great view of it a couple of days later on route to Uluwatu and asked the driver to get close for a photo as it was late and the place was shut. It was impressive in size and I could see it was still be worked on. I hope to come back to Bali someday and go and see it completed.
A great cultural tourism spot. The entry cost includes a free amphitheatre pass, where you can watch local dance and folklore. A lot of souvenir to shop as well while prices might be a bit higher but its much easier to buy. The statues are the highlight of the journey. They are majestic and grand. U can actually do a tour inside the garuda wisnu kencana ( largest statue there) but it will cost u extra
Do not waste your time....such a disappointment and a major ripoff
atention its open from mornig until 18.00 local time after that you can not enter the statue
my sugestion came during the morning time from 9 to 10 so you can enjoy all the show
Great place to visit for the first time Bali tourists. I didn't expect to be back, but as it turned out; DWP was hosted there.
Amazing place. The serenity of the place will take your breath away.
It encapsulates much of the cultural images of the Balinese people
Huge area, young children, and older people may become fatigued with all the walking, but worth it.
A celebration of Wishnu and his ride, Garuda, the park is a large complex of statues, parks, and shops and hotels all over a mountain. Well planned and managed, the property is still undergoing construction to add more features and points of interest.. the main central Garuda Wishnu Kencana Statue is the world's 4th largest statue!
Nothing like what it is advertised like. Really disappointed and a waste of money... Wish we could get our money back
Timing : please reserve 3-4 hours to enjoy the whole attractions/areas
Lots of walking
Prepare your camera or phone
You can ride segway/e-scooter
Good:
Beautiful Scenery
Good mix between nature and culture (show at Amphitheatre)
Warm and Friendly Staff
Majestic view for the main statue itself
Bad:
Not stroller friendly - no nursing room as what we know
Hot.. prepare sunglasses and hats, it will be nice if there is lots of place to cool down
Procedure to enter and exit is complicated for those coming with stroller for baby and kid. Rule of Thumb is that you cant separate family so need to allow the father to accompany their family
Nice place to visit in Denpasar. You can but some nice souvenirs from the gift shop there.
Bring water, sunglasses and sunblock. Scorching hot during the day. Better if more trees planted to shade pedestrian walks.
As the park is still being constructed, there was some things not quite in place yet. The performances are gr8 & you get to see various types. Food is quite limited & Starbucks only takes local cards - so we not able to buy anything there
Must visit place in Bali without it tour of bali is incomplete
An unexpected and interesting destination. I was only expecting a big statue but it is more than that. Cultural experiences (tatty shops) and heritage. Worth a visit
Wear a hat as it gets really hot and you have to walk long distances. Nice views over the cliff and of Garuda and Wisnu. Nice reasonably priced gift shop. There are several other shops and restaurants, a food court and there s even a Starbucks inside.
Great cultural place though it is far from finished.
The Garuda Vishnu Kenchana statue viewed from outside was incredibly awe inspiring. We bought tickets to go up to Vishnu's shoulder too but the view from there was restricted to tiny little windows. This was disappointing. Floor to ceiling windows and perhaps an outdoor access would have been wonderful. The buggies did not take us all the way down and senior citizens had to walk quite a bit. This could be improved.
* Amazing Place, Great Destination. Today, Attending Social Network Activity of #PgConfAsia2019 Group ( PostgreSQL Conference Bali ) b.t.w Wanna Explore Bali? Please Find out #ExploreBaliWithHappinesstours on Google maps of yours, Have A Great Day!
What a great monument but need to improve its access from the city or nearby hotel
This place was amazing. At first my friends hesitated to go because they thought it was only a statue. Once we were there, they were blown away! Tool a lot of great portraits.
The area is huge. I was there in 2012, when the ticket was still Rp. 30,000 per person and I could even bring my dog inside.
After 5 years, the 2 main statues are still on the ground and they are still under construction. Although they have done some changes, but those are not the main things they should focus on.
The focus is those 2 statues.
I was there earlier this year with my family and there really isn't anything interesting but taking pictures.
Great foe tourists but staff needs to be more happy
Awesome place. If u r ever have been in Bali. Then this place is best.
Nice park, do bring sunscreen. 125k rupiah entry fee if your not local. The main statue even supposed to be taller than the statue of liberty.
Good place when visit to Bali....not much attraction but must pay for IDR80.000 for domestic
Nice place, my parents love this place. They re excited with this place
When I visited Bali last 3 months ago it still under construction, hence didn't see the full beautiful stupa. Hope next year trip will visit this place again. I love Bali
very good scenery, good atmosphere too, but it also too many ticket to paid for
world iconic man made...must visit and enjoy the mystical place and environment. must see the kecak dance. best time for visit 16.00 and enjoy the evening time there
A bice place to go and having fun. You can do jogging outside
Good place, but seems still not finalized. Offers a few restaurants, nice giant carvings of Ramayana characters and some cultural performances. Pathways are carved from giant rocks, looks like work in progress- may take a few years to complete 100%. Entry is ticketed. You can watch once an hour cultural performance as well.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana is an iconic place in Bali.
They held Soundranaline, an international music show, every year.
In regular days, GWK has many attractions/shows. By the time travellers get there, try to find brochures, there are infos about shows schedule and venue in there.
Travellers must wear a shawl before entering this place.
The location is pretty spacious with up and down land. But the scenery and the statues are amazing.
GWK statue is higher than Liberty statue.
spacious place but not much to see. but if you like to take picture for your instagram you will love this place. the performance in Amphitheatre start at 10am. so you better be there before that. especially if you bring young kids you better be there earlier or later. it's hot and very humid. for kids below 5y.o is free. in the amphitheater they have some dance performance.
the performance was simple but interesting, but unfortunatelyly only available in Indonesia language. there's should be the MC explain. and the dancer who have dual should be equipped with wireless microphone.
the Wisnu statue is huge. the view to the harbour is great. you can see the highway from the top. the garuda status on the next area also huge. the main monument is under development. but the parking area arrangement not really smooth. overall the area is good. there's some food shop and souvenir close to the entrance. the price is reasonable.
very unique location in bali as it has big and the highest wisnu statue. Very nice view surrounding the area. worth to visot during holiday in Bali
Amazing place to visit and see all the paths that were cut by hand.
The brand new statue is so cool. It is huge so you can see the statue from far away.
There is a tour about the buliding process inside the statue.
Here only attraction is not the statue of lord vishnu on garuda but the route to reach their. You can take their boogy cars or can cycle to the place. They have various events at specific timings. Good option of restaurants. Extremely cool infrastructure one of the eye catcher. Folk dance performances, theatrical etc are organized.
Just awesome. Cant wait till the park is done 100%. Its gonna be the best cultural park in the world.
Apprently this is a Cultural centre, but left here learning absolutly zero about culture. This is a big cultural commertial machine that pushes patrons through to collect money. Nothing informative to read, just pay and move to the big statue, pay again to go up into statue, pay again to see but not to learn. Give this place miss when planning your travel itinerary. Time and money wasted here can be better spent
It's not worth visiting unless you have too much time on your hands: long queues to visit gardens that are currently (2018-2019) under renovations, and while the giant statue is impressive it's only pretty from afar.
GWK is get better and bigger. They have a massive Garuda and Wisnu statues. Of course those are their main attraction.
The also have a live perfomance such as barong dance, kecak dance and many more. Every hour has different perfomer.
For entry ticket, you should pay IDR 80k (for domestic tourist). But sorry, i forgot the entry ticket for foreigner tourist.
Beautiful place, well maintained. A must visit place in Bali
Visitors can see the beautiful scenery of southern Bali from GWK.
Also at GWK has a daily performances, and they're showing many performances, we came at afternoon so we only saw tari kecak performances, schedule can be seen at their website
The Vishnu Garuda statue is one of the most awe inspiring things I have ever seen!
Huge statues, clean place, well maintained. Cultural programs are nice and have a definite schedule. Photogenic place, good to visit with family.
Went there with my partner walking and able to get inside and enjoy the view for free.. Must see if your in Jimbaran area and wanting to see places that is out of your itinerary
Amazing place to go if you wanna see advanced sclupture techniques and art performances.
very good place. a place to experience and exploring balinese culture.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is a popular tourist destination located in Bali, Indonesia. It is known for its iconic statue of Garuda Wisnu Kencana, which stands as the fourth tallest statue in the world. The park offers visitors a unique cultural experience with its 15 daily Balinese art performances.
The park covers an area of 240 hectares and was built to promote Indonesian culture and tourism. It was designed by Nyoman Nuarta, a renowned Balinese sculptor who spent over 25 years creating the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue.
The statue itself is an impressive sight to behold, standing at a height of 121 meters and weighing over 4,000 tons. It depicts the Hindu god Vishnu riding on his mount Garuda, which symbolizes freedom and strength.
Apart from the statue, there are several other attractions within the park that showcase Indonesian culture. Visitors can explore traditional Balinese architecture at the Lotus Pond or learn about local handicrafts at the Street Theater.
One of the main highlights of visiting Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is watching one of their daily cultural performances. These shows feature traditional Balinese dances such as Legong and Barong, accompanied by live gamelan music.
In addition to cultural experiences, there are also plenty of recreational activities available within the park. Visitors can enjoy outdoor sports like rock climbing or take part in water-based activities like jet skiing or parasailing.
For those looking for a more relaxed experience, there are several dining options available within Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. From traditional Indonesian cuisine to international dishes, visitors can indulge in a variety of culinary delights while enjoying stunning views across Bali's landscape.
Overall, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park offers visitors an unforgettable experience that combines artistry with culture and recreation. With its impressive statue and daily cultural performances set against Bali's natural beauty - it's no wonder why this destination remains one of Bali's most popular tourist attractions!
