I took my 5 year old son to this ER on Saturday. He was having high fevers (101, 102, 103) on and off since Friday night, a bad ear ache, his throat was hurting and he had a rash all over his body (like permanent chills). They did a throat swab when i said he s had strep throat before and got those little bumps all over his body (Scarlett fever) so they did a throat swab, gave him some Tylenol for the fever, and sent us on our way saying the results came back NEGATIVE, he didn t have an ear infection, and to just switch off between Motrin and Tylenol every 3 hours for the fever and to buy some Benadryl because the rash was most likely due to an allergic reaction. They prescribed ZERO medications. 3 hours later, Motrin. 3 hours later Tylenol. So on and so forth every 3 hours, Benadryl before bed two nights in a row. He woke up this morning with a 104 fever so i took him to a different emergency room in riverside. I told them he had been tested on Saturday (today is Tuesday) for strep and it came back negative. So of course they didn t test for that, which they should have anyways, but whatever. They drew blood, did a chest X-ray, everything came back normal. They prescribed him amoxicillin and ear drops because sure enough, he indeed has an ear infection. About 2 hours after i got home, i get a call from Corona, this place, and the chick says that they got his results back and that they came back POSITIVE for strep. So for THREE DAYS, he could ve been on antibiotics, a FIVE YEAR OLD, who is suffering daily and taking meds he doesn t need to be taking, because your results came back negative. And now they re all of a sudden positive. If you have kids, you know the devastation of seeing them suffer and not being able to do anything to help them. Thinking what you were told to do is already helping, when in fact it s not, because he wasn t properly treated. We will not be returning. I understand with everything that s going on, emergency rooms, urgent cares, etc., they re extremely busy, cautious, and have a lot going on. But anything could ve happened to my child. And this was unacceptable.
