Very nice built 1908 wow, it was our first time here, saw Phantom of the opera, Excellent, orquestra, The VOICES WERE AMAZING! They should remove first four rows of seating, so the Orquestra goes on the bottom. Put all sceneries of the show. On vacation, saw it bought tickets $45.00e only ones left GALLERY. Excellent location, no seating assigned. You should at least measure peoples put a number, not that we had people in front, no seats and people in back actually there knees and shoes on our backs? No ventilation at all, fans nor air conditioning! The voices were worth the price, but bring that theater up to 2019 lots of tourist, origianally prices were $100.00 euros to $380.00 euros. Beautifull voices people, and packed! Gallery $45.00e. Very unfriendly ticket agents at front.

In 1939, Cassiano Branco was invited to solve the project and, reusing the already constructed wall box that delimits the theater, stage and corridors, reorganizes the vertical articulation of the building, just as it invests in the succession of the entrance spaces.

One of the primary performance venues in town.

The building, built in the 40s, is a truly fine example of Portuguese Streamline Moderne and Art Deco. Designed by Cassiano Branco, one of the best mid-century Portuguese architects who tackled everything from apartment buildings, children s amusement parks, markets, theaters, cinemas & hotels.

Needs renovation though.

Great!

The acoustics are not the best for those who stay on the top benches.
It was the first time I went to the coliseum and I did not stay in the audience and although I heard the instruments, the voices heard little. And when one of the singers made an intervention, it could not be understood.
