Best selection of alcohol in CT. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is more than happy to help you sort through their immense stock. They also can order special items if they do not carry it regularly. The prices are either average or bellow average to boot. Worth a stop if you need a great bottle of wine or craft beer.

OK prices, this is CT so no real deals, and a really great selection of beer and wine. Plus staff is attentive and knowledgeable! Has become my go to store in Branford!

The store gets a 5 star. The local people that comes in giving employees a hard time gets a -star. If you want to see local people treating employees like trash because of the color of there skin then this is the place for you.

Prices much higher than when it was locally owned.......

Since I live in Pennsylvania, I always take the opportunity to check out liquor stores in other states and countries. This might be the best liquor store I have ever been in with an incredible selection of spirits, wines, beers and ciders. The depth of the collection is pretty astounding too. Whoever is purchasing inventory at this store really knows spirits. The rum variety was the largest I have ever seen. The staff was friendly as well and prices seemed reasonable. I will go out of my way in the future to visit this store.

Has everything at incomparable prices you cant beat!

They have a great selection of wine. Although none of them are really old.but none of the people seem to have a really firm grip on what are good wines or wine is good.it seems like many of them were just saying either what they were told to say or what they read in some advertisement for the wine that was sold to coastal itself.but if you're interested in wine at a cheap price and you know what you're looking for then it's an okay ........

Best selection in area, unless I want to drive an extra 40 miles round trip to Total Wines. Prices are okay, not exceptional. Staff is largely indifferent, barely say thanks.

UPDATING as of 8/29/2020; Happily changing my review from 1 star to 5 stars :) My only reason for the 1 star was due to the fact I had been overcharged and tried letting the store know but to no avail. Anyways, I'm so thankful and appreciative to Kate Pedreira, their Chief Sales and Marketing Officer!! She reached out to me and wanted to clear things up solely because it's the right thing to do and to me, that is why I'll continue to do business there. She was so helpful and flexible with her availability to meet at the store. I couldn't ask for a better person to represent Coastal Wine and Spirits. She's just an honest woman and because I'm the same way (and sadly that trait is hard to come by these days), I decided I needed to give her a little extra 'shout-out' so to speak!

I couldn't find what I was looking for so I asked an employee if he knew where I could find it. He went to the general area of where it might be but to no avail so he went on the computer and found the kind of wine I was looking for. He was very nice and helpful.

Sure, sure; they have alcoholic beverages and mixers but have you seen their Root Beer? It can be hard to find a more crafty root beer and more non-alcoholic beverage options are always welcome! Especially when shopping for picnics where not everyone is drinking alcohol.

I'd like to begin by saying I've shopped at this store for years, and they have a great staff/management that have nothing to do with my 1 star review. My friend and I went to the store on 10/5/2014 at approximately 11:30am to get some beer for the upcoming football games. I had my dog with me, a 17lbs. Shih-tzu who has accompanied me to the store many times. On the way in, the dog peed a little bit on a poll outside (yes, outside) of building. An unidentified man began screaming at me "Oh yeah that's really f***ing nice having him piss all over the place!" I shrugged my shoulders and walked into the store. What was I going to do, I didn't want a fight over a tiny little squirt of dog pee. The man follows me through the door screaming, "How would you like it if I came into your house and pissed on your floor?!?" I felt kind of threatened at this point, as I had no idea who this person was. I turned and said, "Just back off man, alright?" He continued following me through the lobby into the main part of the store screaming at me. I turned and said, "Really, man? You're following me into the store over this?" I thought he was maybe some local drunk who hadn't had his booze yet or some kind of lunatic. In either case, my adrenaline is pumping at this point thinking that this person might try to attack me. He then yells amidst his ranting, "I'm the OWNER of this place! I own this whole plaza!!!" I could not believe that someone who owns a large plaza and liquor store in the community would behave like this, so I confirmed his identity as owner with one of the employees. Indeed it was him, Albert (I'll leave his last name out). I said, "Okay, I'll go buy beer elsewhere."

The guy owns several liquor stores in the state, and is menacing a customer without identifying himself over a tiny bit of dog pee outside of a building? He could've introduced himself and asked politely to not let that happen again if he had a problem, and I would've apologized and moved on. Instead he chased me into the store and made me feel like I was about to get into a physical altercation. You can all decide if you'd like to support a business owned by this man.

Neat and organized store with friendly staff and tastings. The selection of wines most likely surpasses that of most other stores. Great selection of beer, but did not pay attention to the selection of spirits. You might find the prices here a bit higher than some other stores, but at least you see where the money goes - fine selection, helpful staff, cleanliness. A quality store.

They have it all. If the do not have your brand of wine or beer. They will get it for you and start stocking it.

Awesome selection but everyone at the registers, minus one person, looks like they hate being there. I feel like I'm bothering people when I get to the counter. But, beer is awesome and is always happy to see me!

Yes my favorite shop in CT for my beer and wine.. the staff is excellent and they are all soo helpful.. the selection and pricing is fantastic..I have shopped competitive.. and they win hands down.. so come on down and see for yourself.. you will be impressed.. also on the weekends you will not be let down by their free wine or beer tasting experience.. enjoy...

Best liquor store around, hands down. Clean, friendly and knowledgeable staff and a huge variety to choose from.

Mediocre, overpriced craft beer selection. The type of establishment which will also stash and refuse to sell limited releases unless you know or are related to someone employed there - plenty of other shops more worthy of your business with better selection, pricing, and customs service practices.

Well-stocked, and they bring it to your car during these difficult times!

I have to respond to the criticism of NR Benedict, who thought the employees here were not knowledgeable. I don't know them all, but would suggest you ask for John if you need help with wines. He is passionate about them and can probably answer any question you may have about wine. He can certainly help you choose a good one--and it will not be something they're trying to promote, unless that's what you want! Sebastian will guide you ably through the beer department. He is also an adventurous fan of mixed drinks and spirits. I doubt there are many he hasn't tried, and he's happy to share his knowledge.
Now a note to the management: Please do not downsize the selection, as I hear you may do. Your varied inventory puts you head and shoulders above the competition here and saves Shoreline residents the trouble of going to Milford!

Coastal is one of very few places that require you to bring return nottles to a separate counter & get a receipt.
Problem is, quite often there's nobody @ that counter to receive your returns & issue a receipt. Oftentimes I've had to go looking for someone - anyone - to accept the returns. So you waste a lot of time necause Coastal doesn't know how to manage its own business!
Very poor system!!
