Chicken Basket Review

Food was awesome!! The waiter was less than desired!! Took him 10 minutes to even wait on us and at the end 8f dinner he walked past the table 8 times without acknowledging that the bill was ready to be paid.

Very delicious all the food of very good quality, the very familiar place and all are very kind, I recommend it.

Solid choice for southern, home style cooking. Go hungry and come home full and ready for a nap.

The chicken liver rocked, the fried chicken, not so much.

Appetizer was simply delicious and I highly recommend the chubby chicken sandwich

We didn t realize this place was on Divers Drive-ins and Dives until we got there. We were so excited to try the Fried chicken but were disappointed :( the chicken is really juicy but there was barely any breading, which is my favorite part.

Fried chicken was just ok. The mac and cheese was separated and had no flavor so it was very disappointing. The chicken wings and bread were both very good.

This place is an icon of Route 66. Dell Rhea's stands almost defiantly on the original route of The Mother Road. The food is outstanding, with their famous fried chicken leading the way. Stop in. Today.

I'm a big biscuit guy and I think the biscuits were out of this world, they were crusty crumbly and doughy mm good. they had these wonderful little pumpkin pie and custard pie tins that were cute and delicious, are real treat.. on the other hand the chicken was so so it didn't have any real flavor,. our Party found it very blah, on a scale of 1 to 10 we give it a 6...

1st time here after seen this place on 2 different food shows I watch. Not only did it live up to the hype, but exceeded it! The atmosphere is charming as is the entire staff. The lunch buffet offered a nice variety of menu items that were all fresh and delicious. Their friend chicken is crispy and juicy! The baked chicken was even better! Overall the experience was terrific and I will be back!!!

Food was good. Service was slow. Too many kids, and they were banging silverware.

We were a group of 10. Heard raves about the salmon salad ,chicken tenders best anywhere! Portions large we all had take home boxes. Great wait staff. Busy on Saturday they handle it well. During the week there's a buffet check it out.

I don't get the hype. My husband and daughter LOVED the chicken. I found it to have a weird flavor and to be way too oily, not the same as juicy. But the staff are friendly and the French fries are great! The Cole slaw tasted like miracle whip. But again, I know I'm in the minority.

What more can you say about Dell Rhea's (Chicken Basket) but,

The staff was nice and welcoming. The Chicken was juicy, but lacked seasoning ... Maybe I'll try the catfish next time.

Even know the prices are high you definitely get your moneys worth the people are very friendly I remember seeing this on tv diners drive ins and dives

Nicest servers in the business. Food is great. We are regular patrons. Try the Shrimp basket or the Catfish basket on Friday or the Prime Rib Special on Saturday!!!

I went to a car show there several weeks ago.
The restaurant owner/manager
were so rude and aggressive that we just left.
This place has been there since forever, this must be new owners because the original owners/staff would never have treated a paying customer like that.
I'll never go back.
I wish I could give them ZERO STARS.

Excellent diner that we never expected to be as delicious as it actually was! Wait staff was slower than expected, which was most likely due to the holiday. This was surpassed by the great wait staff and delectable food.

I go here for the great chicken at least a couple times a month! The place recently changed hands but hasn t missed a beat in delivering a great luncheon buffet for a fair price!

Best chicken around. The cherry pue is great lots of cherries very little sauce.

Chicken Dinners - I can not tell you how disappointed I was when our mini family reunion of 8 people at Dell Rhey's on 4/13/2013. 1st I believe this was the worst waitress I have ever had anywhere at any restaurant. Yes the chicken was pretty good. But the mashed potatoes were thick like paste and super heavy. The green beans looked like reheats from a few days earlier. The soup and salad bar were awesome good.
That being said there is no place to email the complaint on the website. If this place has been around as long as they say from the 40's they should have a place to see how they are doing.. I had never eaten there before but I am sure to tell everyone I talk about food to That this place would be a place to stay away from. I am sorry to say this but they missed the mark across the board. There are a lot of people looking for work and for 1 group we paid the 26.00 minimum tip where normally we would of close to double it.

Eh expensive. Good and friendly service. Still a fun time when u see operating restaurants on the route 66.

Waited 30 mins for a few pieces of chicken to go and restaurant was empty. Customers who showed up 15 mins after us were eating while we waited for food. Got the food home and fries were soggy and barely cooked. Had to finish cooking them to eat them. Would not recommend and service continues to go downhill.

I'm from Texas here on work related business. . I'll tell you that this is just like if not better than southern fried chicken.

Chicken is very tender however they use a cornmeal based batter instead of flour. Mac & Cheese is mouthwatering with cheese on top of cheese. A Route 66 fav!

Definitely going back. Might even try their fish fry.

The food & service as great. Plenty of it too! Our only real complaint was the fan above us was so high, not only were we chilled, we were concerned our food would get cold quickly.

The Chicken was not as good as the advertisement. It wasn't clean.

Super nice staff, good food, people in general seem very jovial when in there. Not your typical fried chicken but still good. Removed one star because service was a tad slow, and Mac and cheese wasn't as creamy as I expected it to be.

I've been coming to this place before Guy Fieri found it, so I don't have ridiculous expectations when I go there. That said, the Chicken Basket rules. The fried chicken is cooked old style and not slathered in seasoning/batter, so if you're all hopped up on KFC then it might not be your taste. Regardless, the quality of the chicken meat itself is excellent. Eat the wings here, and you'll never go to another Hooters/BWW/etc ever again. Eat the chicken pot pie and you'll cry tears of joy and run home to momma. You're going to wait awhile. Have a biscuit and some RC.

Best fried chicken in the burbs. The labor day buffet was amazing. The BBQ chicken and pork were great. It's a old school place that makes you feel at home when you dine there.

Historic with good food. Route 66 lives on here. A bucket list place. Nothing fancy. Casual. Buffet is very popular. Great chicken.

Just ok rating for the best Chicago had to offer. Chicken was cooked to perfection, nice crispy coating but had not flavor, no seasoning. Biscuits however were amazing.

Got some brunch here with my boyfriend. We ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, cheese curds and the chubby chicken. Kind of confused why the sandwich was called chubby when the chicken portion wasn t not that big. The buffalo chicken sandwich get a bigger chicken size. The buffalo chicken sandwich barely had any sauce and bun was burnt. Cheese curds were good, fries were standard. The Customer service was great. Very friendly and made sure to check on us throughout our meal.
