Captain Buzzy's Beanery Review

Very disappointed. Bagels were so stale you couldn't bite into them and the coffee was terrible. Everything is extremely overpriced.

With so many bakery and coffee options in Richmond, this wasn't my favorite. Baked goods didn't seem fresh and everything was pre-wrapped. Not bad, though.

A true local hang out. Not trying to impress anybody. They sometimes have trouble getting the temperature right.

Initially enjoyed this local spot despite the noise and occasional over-the-top personalities. However, after my boyfriend and I introduced ourselves as a same-sex couple, we received a much colder reception. Unfortunately we no longer feel comfortable patronizing this business.

Stopped in for an iced caramel latte - one of the best I've had. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was quiet even with multiple people working at tables. Will have to stop back in.

Super friendly staff, quirky interior, and great coffee! They use frozen coffee as ice cubes in cold drinks so it doesn't get watered down!

Always super friendly, and their Church Hill Blend is the chronic - I like to give bags of it as gifts to out of town guests. Plus where else can you get an iced coffee with coffee ice cubes??

I bought a pound of their Costa Rican blend which their barista said was her favorite. Brewed it at home and it's almost undrinkable (could be the way I'm brewing it, but I don't believe so as I've tried many different approaches and have had very successful brews with beans from all over Richmond). I probably won't go back. It's not awful, but in a city with so many great coffee options, just go somewhere else. This ain't it chief

This coffee shop is wonderful! I am a frequent patron and the experience is always a good one. The coffee is nice and the food is delicious. The cafe has a wonderful charm that makes spending a lazy morning or slow afternoon there a pleasure. The service is prompt and cordial; the owner being especially kind, cheerful, and energetic. I wholeheartedly recommend Captain Buzzy's. Give it a try sometime.

A very comfortable environment. The Barista's are nice, and I would recommend coming here to enjoy freshly brewed coffee for any ocassion.

Historic building, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and good coffee.

Blended coffee beverage was great , service was ok but this place smells very very bad a mixture of drab mold & mothballs, given it is an old building . Bathroom was not clean and smelled worse than dinning area.Also pastries covered with saran wrap wasn't keeping fruit flies off. Pet friendly plenty of books and things to read inside of you choose to sit in.

Hot day and drink coffee? Excellent iced coffee, I often find ice coffee to taste too weak.Cold brew option was very tasteful. Nice atmosphere in 100+ year old building but the Air Conditioner was working hard enough to enjoy hot coffee.

This was my first time visiting this shop. The service was great. The breakfast sandwiches ate fairly large so come hungry.

Warm, homey atmosphere; lots of light, but 'snug'; hardwood floors. My triple latte had just the right bite, mellow finish. A tasty pumpkin, cream cheese scone was not heavy, dry or too sweet; just right for dipping Friendly staff. Charming, tree lined street; I strolled outside.

If you like awesome coffee, Captain Buzzy's is the place to go. We had a breakfast sandwich, bagel and quiche, all of which were good. That coffee though...the best I have found in Richmond so far. And they roast it right there in store. Swoon!

This is my favorite spot in church hill --and so close to where I live!

I like to cozy up in the corner couch seat with a chai latte and read books or get work done on my Chromebook and their ice is made with coffee! So no dilution of your coffee when the ice melts! It's got a pretty relaxed atmosphere; not too noisy.

Great good, reasonable prices, and the kindest staff in the city.
