You have to make the drive to Tucson just to see the Biosphere 2. My review just won't make justice to the magnitude that this place is. The center is full of unique information. To have different climates in one place is just amazing.

Not that many people but still stood in line for well over an hour just to get in. When it was finally our turn to purchase tickets there was a 1.5 hour wait for the next tour. You must take a guided tour to see anything. The tour is about 2 hours long. Since we allocated 2 hours for the biosphere, we just left. A wasted 3.5 hours. Hour drive there and back and 1.5 in a fairly short line. I hate to see what it s like in a crowd. Extremely inefficient. No wonder the project failed. They can t even process visitors in a timely and efficient way! Also the timeline that is posted on the wall while you wait, is in reverse order as you go through line.

Biosphere 2 is a group of large buildings with nearly completely sealed artificially created environments that simulate a variety of natural biomes, such as ocean or jungle.

Considering the project is located in Arizona, it's shocking to go into a building and find yourself in a list reason forest it a coastal tide pool complete with a wave generator and, at one time, corral reefs.

You are each given a pair of earphones since they're is machinery and the revert is amazing, but also to hear the introductory film they show explaining the project.

In summary, I highly recommend anyone who likes nature it learning to go. It was well worth the paltry sum for entrance.

We visited the Biosphere 2 and had a great visit. It's amazing that they've built an ocean and a rain forest in the middle of the desert. The science blows you away. It's so well thought out. It makes me want to go sign up for science classes at the U of A for a chance to learn there!
I left my water bottle in the car when we visited, I wish I had brought it along. If you take the tour, which I recommend you do, there's a lot of walking. They do have a fantastic cafe, but you won't visit until after the tour.

We enjoyed out time at the biosphere, but the tour seemed a little short. It was prearranged for us through another group, so I do not know if it was typical or not. The tour guide was very knowledg able and I did learn a lot! The lung was probably the coolest part.
If we had more time to wander I would have enjoyed looking around a little longer as well.
It is a bit far out, so it would be worth spending some time if you are going to make the trek.

I loved my trip to Biosphere 2! I've been dreaming about going back - there is so much cool science and innovation (not to mention history!) going on there and the tour was really inspirational!

Visited Biospere 2 last week & my experience was just as billed... A great experience and not one to miss. I also bought & read Jayne Potter's book, The Human Experiment, which put a pertinent context to what went on here & money well spent.

The Biosphere 2 is a cool experience if you re into science experiments, and if you like learning more about Earth and the changes we re experiencing. The stories they tell you along the tour are intriguing. I think the ticket prices are a tad high for what you re receiving. When I visited, the scientists were experimenting with drought in the rainforest and its effects on the flora. While this is a relevant issue and necessary for study, it makes for a less impressive tour because all of the plants have receded, and you re left to see much more of the manmade structures of the Biosphere 2. Our tour guide told us in normal circumstances, the plants are basically taking over the whole rainforest, and you can barely see the manmade rocks and building structure upon which they grow.

Whether an accident or whether an unfortunate part of another experiment, the ocean was full of algae in our visit. The staff told us that right now, the main concern of the scientists is to just remove all the algae. They told us what the scientists had planned, but nothing could start until the algae was removed. This made the ocean very murky looking, and from the underwater viewing room, there wasn t much to see.

The farming techniques were really cool, and it was nice to learn about the sustainable farming experiments they are currently running.

I unfortunately saw a few items of trash in the bushes along the tour (a plastic water bottle, someone s Biosphere 2 tickets, a plastic wrapper of some kind). Outside of this (and I suppose outside the algae), the facilities were very clean.

The tour staff is very friendly and happy to have you along for the tour. They encourage photographs.

This was so much fun. Very informative. Growing plant food without soil in the future, yikes.

It felt like a scene from Willie Wonka, I wanted so much to pluck off one of those African coffee beans to keep me awake.

I wish I knew to wear sneakers for the almost 150 stairs we encountered. Great place for a family outing.

Biosphere 2 is a must see stop! Such an interesting place. Everyone is guaranteed to learn something new here. Our guide was very knowledgeable and open to questions. Super friendly staff. One sweet gentleman even went back into a plant POD, included in my pictures here, so I could take his picture! He then gave us all kinds if info about how the pod works and how they study to grow plants in space. It was like an additional small private tour! I like the fact that they are still in research mode. They work with other institutions such as the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, to learn more and more about our diverse ecosystems, and how to protect and have them flourish for future generations. Though not part of the tour, I found more "in depth" information about the history of Biosphere 1 on YouTube. Knowing how it all started, was very interesting.

I love Biosphere... learning all about what is going on with our planet and what we can do to assist in keeping our planet alive and well. It's a great place to go to for both kids and adults. I highly recommend if you're in the Tucson area.

Loved the place . Must visit for anyone in the area or even in Arizona. See the microcosm of the planet in here. See how we affect the planet. Be enlightened and aware of the human effect on climate. The scientific take on whatever we do on this planet.

We waited in line to get tickets for 15 minutes and the line didn t move AT ALL. People coming out of the building told us that the next available tour time wasn t for another 2.5 hours and that was for the people at the front of the line. And of course, you can t go in and see anything if you re not on a tour. We left immediately. It would have been great to see but this facility is grossly inefficient and mismanaged.

Pretty cool place that the movie Bio-Dome was inspired by the events that took place in this biosphere. The actual science behind the dome is pretty interesting but there are too many variables that missing to make it a "real" biosphere in my opinion. Worth a visit!
