Came here for the bar and it's surprisingly a shining gem among the chain bars along this part of the south bank. I'd given up hope of finding anywhere that you could get a drink with atmosphere in this part of town. Bar service was friendly and fast. Will definitely be back to actually watch a film here too!

To be fair for the National and this supposed to the National Film Theatre it is very underwhelming. The whole space is very dated. Screens 2 and 3 are small and cramped where as 1 is lovely. For this day and age a knock down and rebuild is in order. Picturehouse Central is far better venue with far more choice and more welcoming.

Amazing arty cinema with bar, restaurant, library, free movie library and quirky shop with book, dvds and gimmicks. Dedinitely worth becoming a member. Looks very stylish after the recent rennovation.

You can catch lots of old classics and the odd blockbuster too. They are always putting together film festivals so you are garanteed to find something you fancy. Head for the bar inside for some nice cocktails before your session.

One of the disabled toilets is not suitable for a wheelchair, as when you've washed your hands, you have to push 5 feet over to where the hand dryer is.
Otherwise I love the place for it's resources and access to films.

Part of the South Bank arts complex, I have been on and off a member of the BFI for several years in the past, and love it. Good film shop, listing DVD films to buy fro all over the world, often with good prices and discounts! Very busy bar.;a la carte restaurant, pricy; quick coffee shop; but seating in this public area is very limited! Great films, appearances by directors, and stars too, and membership is cheaper than museums and art galleries!

Tonight during the screening of The good the bad the ugly a disabled person was forced out of the theatre because she was laughing. This was very disturbing. We hope the person is ok and she will receive a robust compensation for this attack to her person. We as many other spectators left the theatre not having believed to what we have seen with our own eyes!

Pretty much the only cinema in London where you can enjoy a film in peace without people gorging on junk food or checking their mobiles or talking through the whole goddam film. It shows some of the wonderful classic films from Hollywood's golden age as well as more current offerings. A real haven for true cinema fans.

Pretentious cinema, for the prices they ask, you would think they would offer cleaner cinemas and comfier seating.
The stars are only for the quality of the films they showcase. The place itself is garbage.

I really disliked the treatment that we received as a group when my school and I went to the British Film Institute. We went to be informed about music videos which wasn't the part I disliked. What I disliked was the treatment we received More

Lovely venue located in central London. Place is fairly hidden but it's not difficult to find if you're following directions. The theatre rooms have comfy seats and enough space for legs. Within the venue there is a cafe with reasonable prices and friendly staff. Overall friendly and cozy atmosphere. If you're looking to watch a movie in central London, I would definitely pay a visit to this venue, you might even see some celebrities!

The best place for the movie buff. The space presents classic film re-releases (during July 2016 there is a Spielberg cycle, for example) in very comfortable rooms with good projection equipment. There are also talks and a shop with good study material.

It is a huge cinema and event center in one, with luxurious and spacious interiors. Could use more signage, especially as it is part of the interconnected Southbank building complex - when you're told to go find NFT1 with nothing else to go on and it takes asking staff in two separate buildings to get there, that's a clear sign of needing more information boards.

Since joining up for membership in January, this year, this has become a favourite go-to-chill-out venue! Be it to watch a current film or films on their archives, or visit their Library and now their Riverside Bar too

Great place to socialise, particularly for a more relaxed vibe. A must for people who love film, bfi has great film curation, with film seasons, special events, exhibitions, q&a, etc. which make a trip to the cinema more special.
I dropped a star as some of the toilets could do with a re-furb!

i LOVE BFI SOUTHBANK!

So many classic and new films there.

The restaurant is fine, but a little bit too expensive.

The country's premier destination for film goers. BFI Southbank shows the weirdest range of repertory and rereleased films in the country. It's also home to a couple of nice bars, and a very good shop filled with harder to find DVDs and Blu-rays.
