What a beautiful place! We did not stay here but enjoyed a day trip to see the ruins and ate a lovely lunch at the restaurant. It was delicious and the service was great. I hope to revisit and stay at one of your cabins.

The only reason I marked ones stars because zero wasn't an option. It was the worst $477 I've ever spent! We didn't even stay for an entire night because of the way we were treated. I guess if we drove a Mercedes or Porsche or something we would have been welcome. The worst part of what little time we were there was when my husband and I were leaving, I was carrying our stuff, and he was carrying our baby's jumparoo, and the 2 employees that were out front saw that we didn't have another hand to open the door but they just stood there watching us until we got almost out the door and then we heard them laughing to each other like we wouldn't hear them. If that was the only place to stay ever again, I would stay in the Walmart parking lot before I would stay there again.

Barnsley is such a gorgeous resort, and the staff at main inn, are so incredibly kind and helpful, but Star, one of the wedding coordinators, is extremely rude and I witnessed her yelling at the photographer multiple times for absolutely no reason at all. I witnessed her being extremely condescending to her, and she probably needs to be watched if she is that rude to wedding vendors.

Incredible, just celebrated my 20th anniversary with my wife there. They were fantastic to us. Really made us feel special. We did the horseback riding, lunch at the Woodlands Grille then the sporting clays. All the workers made us feel special. The only drawback I would give would be that it's a little pricey. It was my anniversary so I didn't worry too much, but for just a regular weekend it would probably be out of my price range. It's a special place worthy of special occasions though. Also, the place is gorgeous, I mean gorgeous.

Very pretty grounds. Though they could use a little TLC.

Cabins are nice, but you're definitely paying for the location, not the accommodations themselves.

Woodlands grill restaurant is very good.

A quick drive but a world away. My husband and I love to spend anniversaries and special times here (with Fairy Godmother) when we need a get away. Once you step out of the car until you are back on 75 you really do feel far away from all the "noise" of our everyday lives. If you have never been, it's time to go. Wonderful food, atmosphere, spa, trap shooting, golf and more. Everything you need for a magical weekend.

Barnsley Resort was a enjoyable experience from the beginning to end. The friendly staff was more than accommodating and helpful for any request. The rooms were compact but comfortable with a fireplace that the staff could light up upon request. The bathroom itself was huge and luxurious. The resort had many delightful activities. I personally took part in skeet shooting with a guide to personally show us how to shoot effectively. I would definitely recommend it if you have the chance. Their gym had enough to do a full workout, and the resort itself is beautiful to walk around in and enjoy. At night, you could request for a fire to be lit and there were s mores provided at the reception to give the night a little flare. All in all, Barnsley resort was a very enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone.

We chose Barnsley because I had stayed before during a family event and it was spectacular. When we visited we fell in love and nothing else would do. To be honest, the price was more than our budget and it does build as you go. A few issues arouse (the upfront deposits for the guests caused initial issues and sometimes they don't answer emails/calls right away when planning is crucial, etc) and we started having a few regrets about the price. That was until the week of the wedding. They did everything to make our time the best possible. They heard we were worried about it being a little cold and offered complimentary heater packages for all events ($3000 value). They are as helpful and professional as can be. Every single dish was 5 Star and the servers were funny, professional and absolutely ON POINT. Cannot recommend this resort more highly for a wedding!

About Barnsley Resort

Barnsley Resort: A Historic Southern Estate with Unmatched Amenities

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Barnsley Resort is a historic southern estate that offers an unparalleled experience to its guests. The resort boasts 3,000 acres of natural beauty and features luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining options, a championship golf course, horseback riding trails, and much more.

History

The history of Barnsley Resort dates back to the mid-19th century when Godfrey Barnsley purchased the land and built his dream home for his beloved wife Julia. The couple spent many happy years at their estate until Julia's untimely death in 1845. Devastated by her loss, Godfrey abandoned the property for several years until he returned with a renewed sense of purpose to complete his wife's vision for their home.

Over time, Barnsley expanded his estate by adding gardens and outbuildings that reflected his love for architecture and horticulture. Unfortunately, tragedy struck again when Barnsley passed away before he could see all of his plans come to fruition.

In 1988, Prince Hubertus Fugger von Babenhausen purchased the property and began restoring it to its former glory. Today, visitors can still see evidence of both Godfrey's and Prince Hubertus' visions throughout the resort.

Barnsley Resort offers guests a variety of accommodations ranging from cozy cottages to spacious suites. Each room is uniquely decorated with antique furnishings that reflect the resort's rich history while providing modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access.
