Great place to hang out and play DnD. Snack and drink bar inside. Board games and miniatures galore!

My absolute favorite comic book/gaming store around. They have almost any board game you could want as well as card games and expansions. They have boxes full of old comic books and various action figures for sale. My personal favorite is there tabletop section. They have rulebooks for an array of systems as well as minifigures for Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer 40k. In the back of the store they have a huge space for groups to sit down and play any game they want. They even have shelves of terrain for tabletop and another that has various board games. Everyone there is very friendly and happy to let you join their game. Just wish I lived closer to it, but oh well it's worth the drive every time.

This is a great store with knowledgeable staff... when they can't answer a question they will ask those around who do, so it was a pretty good experience. What surprised me was their ability to stock board games, TCG, table top games, and comics without any of them suffering from poor stocking or placement. I haven't gamed there yet (having just moved to the area) but I look forward to seeing how the community is there among the different games.

Awesome place, Great staff that are friendly and know there stuff. Not To mention best selection of models in North Carolina. Honestly wish the hobby ship where i lived was half as good as this place!

Amazing! I have been in many stores, in many towns, in many diffetent states; Atomic Empire looks & feels like that mystical local store that you hear and read about in far away places... but it is right here, in your own backyard! I'm new in town, and I stopped by with my kids just to browse and hope that they knew what 40k and D&D was. Ohhh, was I surprised! First, the store is HUGE. Rather than the usually cramped, dark and/or smelly retail space, you are greated with a spacious, clean and bright area. They have lots of board games, books, miniatures, paints & supply on stock... the diverse selection may overwhelm noobs, but will satisfy the vets. Enter the next point... the Staff. I was welcomed by two staff members, but they had no interest in any pressure sales. They waited for me to approach with questions, and help me get oriented... how refreshing! As common in places of high caliber, we started talking about what I was interested, and what they had to offer. While the stock is not absolute (I don't blame them... who wants to have shelves full of slow moving inventory) they can take special orders for speedy delivery.

The Staff is composed of friendly hardcore geeks (Ha, a triple oximoron!) They not only know about the games, but have experience and pride about their hobby. They were running two major events that Saturday and they invited me to mingle and ask around. Which leads me to my third point... the playing area.

Sweet Baby Emperor! The area is three times bigger than retail... there was 30 players in the 40k tourney (that is amazing all by itself), 20 players in the Star Wars Armada tourney and like 30 other people playing Magic and few board games. The space is so big, it felt like I was back on the floor of GW's Games Day. Most of the gaming tables were definitely decent game-quality (some simple mats with few terrain pieces), few were still on early stages (pink foam world, anyone?)... but considering that they were running 25 tables... to quote Lord Vader, "Most impressive!"

I'm fairly sure they have some rooms for role-playing groups (I could not check them out myself). They have a snack bar (emphasis on bar) where they serve local brews. While I didn't sampled anything, lots of people were gathering drinks and obviously having a good time.

The Staff seemed welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The community of gamers is well supported and enormous. I will be checking out they calendar of events and hopefully join them. My advice to you? Stop by the store and check it out. Your first thought will be one of amazement regarding the size, soon to be replaced by a burning desire to make Atomic Empire your new gaming home.

Great local game store. Large varied selection of board games, card games, tabletop and RPG. They also have an online store with a huge inventory. The staff is always very friendly and super helpful. Great community with events on a regular basis.

Atomic is really everything you could want and hope for in a LGS.

Great store with a good selection in various games: board games, card games, tabletop rpg books, miniature games, comics and more. What they don't have in store they can order in on their website and pick up from store. Employees always nice to deal with friendly and have share interests to give personal opinions.

This is an ultimate destination for gamers. They have huge events every week and offer a wide variety of games and gaming supplies. Their prices are often lower than you can find online. You won t regret coming in.

Surprised I've never spent much time here before. Great place to meet with friends for board games, that have lots of space and beer/snacks on the ready. Surprised at how much staff and support they can offer, and their selection and store itself is huge.

Great selection, but overall the games are very expensive. Was looking for something to pick up to play with my husband today, but found the prices were 33% more than online in several cases (and these were the store's discounted prices)... Gloomhaven and Pandemic specifically. I don't mind paying up to 10% more to shop locally, but 33% on a game that is over a hundred dollars is too much.

The store has plenty of space . . . for Magic the Gathering. There is a reasonable board game collection. The online ordering system has problems I don't want to elaborate on.

They have a good selection of board games and rule playing game supplies.

1st time there staff freindly and helpful. Prices very reasonable. Very impressed. There was a MTG event going and a few Warhammer AOS & 40K tables and there were a few other games going on but sorry no idea what they were.

My girls enjoy going her to purchase their card games and their board games. They have a great selection that is hard to find anywhere else. If you can't find it on the shelf just tell the staff and they will order it for you or stock the shelf with it. They also have a nice selection of D&D stuff. There is huge area in the back for gamers to set up and play... no appointment need, just meet your friends there and hang out. They also have a bar where they serve drinks of all kinds. Come and join in on the fun or bring your own fun!

The atmosphere is nerdy as you might expect! :) Helpful employees and varied inventory including games, expansions, card decks, comics, figurines etc. I didn't use the game playing tables, but there are some available for hanging out along with a small candy/ snack bar.

Board Game selection could be a little more comprehensive, but everything else is great, and they have beer taps!

Best selection and of miniatures that I have ever seen! They have a huge selection of all kinds of games and associated events (Friday night magic, Yugioh, D&D, and more. Great place to find even those obscure things you ve been looking for.

A wonderful place for all things tabletop and comics. Tables are available for free, if memory serves. I see families and friends gather here to play tabletop.

I cannot give this store high enough praise for I am a simple man with only simple words. The selection of tabletop games and game accessories in the store was enough to make my knees weak upon entering through the front door. When I saw their prices my jaw dropped. When I saw the number of events that they host weekly there I squealed with glee. And when I nearing the back of the store realized that they serve alcohol, I wept tears of joy. My only regret is that no place like this exists in Greensboro.

Of all the gaming stores I have been to in the state of North Carolina, Atomic Empire seems to be the best catered to its clientele. A wide range of friendly staff, a large open play space, and a seemingly never ending spectrum of products. They also have a great comic selection, one that is only rivaled by shops dealing only in comics and graphic novels. The novelty appeal is certainly there as well, they have a huge selection of memorabilia and gifts. A few local beers on tap, and one of the best play groups for Magic: the Gathering, and tapletop games as well. A great place for gaming, and a great place just to check out.

My son loves this place. We find such great comic books and little unique treasures here all while getting wonderful customer service.

Not much of a game player, mainly just went as a regular comic buyer. Was regularly frustrated with books on my pull list never coming due to issues with their distributor.



An LCS is a place where I look forward to going to every Wednesday, especially on bad days. It s a place where I should feel comfortable, welcome, and in my element with people who like the same things I do.

This was not that place. Ultimate Comics up the street is.

I feel like this is the best gaming store in the triangle. They have an enormous selection of games, comics, and other various accessories to these. They also have a huge space customers can use to play games with snacks and drinks for sale. They also have a better beer selection than most bars at better prices.

The people working at the store are also top notch. They are always professional and courteous, it's obvious that customer service is their number one priority.

Atomic is a store that serves as a pillar of the gaming community in the triangle, and I hope it is not going anywhere soon.

I tried to purchase something off of their website, and they decided to wait until the day before it was supposed to arrive to inform me that they didn't have the product in stock. Very unimpressed with the communication from who ever runs their online order fulfillment.

Great selection of board games, RPGs, and hobbyist miniatures/mats supplies. Surprisingly not that expensive for a FLG. Lots of space to play games in the back too.

I purchased an out-of-print card game (for a ridiculously low price compared to everyone else, by the way) from their website on a Friday. Received an email that Monday saying that it had shipped...only to find it was already in my mailbox. Great service...wouldn't hesitate to order from them again in the future.

Probably the best gaming store in the country East of Seattle. Great games selection, active scenes for wargaming, Magic, boardgaming and RPGing. Beer on tap sure doesn't hurt.

Wonderful place to purchase games. Well packed, promptly shipped, timely updates via email and always correct. They have reasonable prices and free shipping if you purchase over a certain amount. I adore this business and definitely shop here above even Amazon for my board games.

Was in the store and did not expect the poor customer service. Will be cancelling my subscription service. Will do business elsewhere as there are plenty of others that treat their customers appropriately.

I'm a low-grade nerd, so I found this place fascinating. Crazy good selection of MTG cards, and there's an area for tournaments. They even have a snack bar where they sell chips and candy and the like, and they even have craft beers on tap. Bring your ID, though. There is no wiggle room in their ID checking policy, no matter how old you are.

This store is great! It's got a great stock of something for everyone: comics, board games, card games, miniatures and painting supplies. There's also a huge area in the back for playing table top and board games. We'll definitely be back!

Atomic Empire offers a wide selection of comics and trades, as well as TCG's and events. I particularly like the "refreshments bar" in the back of the store for long MTG events that offers some alcoholic drinks and some regular juices/water. The comics section . needs to be better organized, but otherwise seems to be kept up to date and fully stocked. The people who work here a mixed bunch. Some are very friendly and helpful, while some just ignore you and avoid speaking to customers.

I preordered an item online and they had it ready for me within a few hours. Great service in that regard.

I attended a MTG Modern Horizons Prerelease draft over the past weekend and had quite a bad experience that I must comment on. The draft was advertised to start at 4 PM. I only found out that they had delayed the draft to 5 PM after going up to a judge and asking why the draft had not started yet (at about 4:25). I understand that the store wants people from the preceding sealed event to finish up and be able to join the draft, but they should really either allocate more time for the earlier event or notify their players of any updates to timing.

The other annoyance of the afternoon was that the judge informed us, after starting the draft, that they would not be handing out the prerelease promo card. He added that they would randomly pick players at the end of the draft to be given the promos later. Wizards of the Coast notes on it's store event page that the promos are to be given out to EACH player attending the event and that the prerelease kits, containing the boosters for the event, would come with the promos. While the promo card is not currently worth more than a dollar and I don't believe this was done maliciously, I am very disappointed as the promo is a big part of the excitement of prerelease and as per WOTC policy, should be given out to all players.

A great place for both veterans of tabletop gaming and newbies who are first starting. A large selection of board games, playing cards, and tabletop accessories and events happening constantly make it a haven for those needing a place to enjoy themselves. An added bonus, they are rather competitively priced (even compared to Amazon). Go have some fun!

I would not recommend this site. I ordered a fnaf construction set that was supposed to include 2 different sets,when I recieved it in the mail it only had 1 set,they admitted thier mistake but said the other set isnt available now,i wouldnt have bought just the 1 set for the price but wont send it back for fear of loosing my money all together

Great selection and a very attentive staff. I have a comic subscription and it is a great service not only for the selection but for the convenience that it offers as well.

I am an online customer. I stumbled across the store while looking for comic books and decided to give it a chance after seeing all the good reviews. I'm so glad I did! The books arrived early and in great condition. Just placed another order with them and will use them for the preorder of the next volume for my comic books.

Kayla helped us and she was awesome! My husband and I love AE and you can't beat their prices (especially if you play X-Wing).

My friends and I love coming here to buy games and hang out. There is a huge selection of board games and I love the fact that there are tons of board games that you can try out in the store. They sell drinks and snacks too, which is pretty cool.

If a game exists, this place has either it, and/or accessories and/or expansion packs to go with it. Make sure you have plenty of money with you because this place isn't cheap. And it has beer! I'm not a beer fan, but apparently lots of people are because every time I've been here, the place is super busy with not just gamers, but gamers who like to have a beer during play. My only real complaint about the place is that the parking is absolutely horrible. The location used to be great and fully open until a couple busy restaurants and a grocery store were added right next to it, so parking comes at a premium now.

Great place for everything geek. A gamer's dream. Good current comics and graphic novels selection. I wish that they'd do dollar boxes more often.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about lots of random things. They have a free play area in the back that let's you drink beer and play boardgames with shelves full of store owned boardgames you can borrow and try!

Friendly staff, good beer on tap, and a great selection of board games & gaming accessories at a fair price. Also, with all the giant tables in the back, a welcoming place to gather with fellow enthusiasts for a night of gaming. I've gone many times with friends and a random board game from my personal collection and had a great evening.

The people here who work here are not just awesome people, but also extremely knowledgeable.

Great game store with a massive selection of games and accessories.

An online store turned physical enduring in its niche by being the only game store within a 10 mile radius of my lodgings. Thankfully, it also happens to be a very good option, filled with opportunity and staff willing to engage it's populace. I plan on coming here weekly to engage in the discussion, events, and work that can be gained here.

Big store and friendly staff. I love to buy MTG cards here and play FNM. There are many options for board games, puzzles and table top games and accessories. I enjoy buy online and pick up in store. I recommend checking them out.

The customer service here is top notch. Very friendly and willing to help you find what you are looking for or give you good advice if you want to try something new!

What makes it 4/5 stars:
- Lots of variety. You can buy comics, board games and trading card games and supplies.
- Lots of tables for people to play games at.
- Friendly staff.
- Decent prices on alcohol.
- Responsible staff. They close at 10. And stop serving at 9. They even call this out to patrons. This gives people time to sober up if they've been drinking.

What could make it 5 star in my opinion:
- Upgrade the aesthetics: Trade some metal and plastic for wood and/or stone.
- Add some music: I think it'd be really cool to have some covers of video game music playing in the background, or some scores to movies playing softly throughout the store.
- Reorganize the store. I think the layout is suboptimal. If the front of the store is on the side with the windows, then I would experiment with putting the merchandise all on the left side from from to back. Move the gaming tables all to the right . I think that might make the space feel larger.

This place is awesome! There a tons of Warmachine figures and stuff and the paint selection is great! They have a huge dice selection as well as a play area in the back. If you ever have a chance to drop in, you should definitely do so.

Hands down the greatest game store I have ever been to. Clean, friendly staff, well stocked, great management and ownership and tons of well run events. A true gem!

Went with my five-year-old to get him a specific gift. Store didn't have it, but staff insisted on telling me about 50 other products I didn't want. Had to tell them over and over that I just wanted the one specific thing. Extremely uncomfortable / awkward people, even for a comic book store. The whole place was just depressing. I won't go back. Save yourself the trouble and just shop eBay and Amazon.

I subscribed to a comic book using thier website. Super Easy! I wasn't expecting it for a few more days but I already have it. 2550 MILES IN 2 DAYS! It arrived super safe with no damage. I will recommend this website to anyone who asks!

Great selection of board games, RPG books and materials, and comics. They also do a really good job of hosting gaming tournaments (primarily Magic: the Gathering). On top of that, they have a variety of beers on draft, so you can drink and nerd at the same time.
