I'd like to give 4.5 stars. Beautiful old modernized hotel.
Love it. Old old place, with a beautiful porch, and views of lake Chautauqua.
The employees are the best ever. The room was spotless and we like all the renevations that were done this past year.
I attended the Sunday brunch at the Athenaeum Hotel. Our server was friendly and attentive and brought drinks or quickly for the table. The meal was a budget with many choices, including eggs, sausage, beef, cream legs, etc. Everything was quite good, especially the beef. The only issue keeping me from at start review is that some of the buffet items were a bit in the cold side. Still, the meal and the walk there/back made this a very pleasant experience that I would recommend
Absolutely beautiful place with hardworking staff and friendly management. I highly recommend spending time here.
Beautiful hotel. Wonderful staff. Excellent atmosphere.
Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Elegant with impeccable service. Great and varied vegetarian selections as well.
Sweeping porch for unwinding and gathering with friends and family.
Though it shows its age and the rooms were small you can't beat the location, the staff was great and it has a sense of elegance.
Great location overlooking the lake old and dated. Good food. If you do go do not stay in the annex, to far to the main lobby.
It's a beautiful experience and I wish all the best to all treaders of this land. Acknowledging Iroquois and Seneca and other first nations people of the land.
Wonderful room at Athenium overlooking the lake. Great place to be!!
Room prices are too high for the size and quality. Disappointed in building condition. The staff was great.
A historic hotel with modern updates. Located in the middle of Chautauqua Institue.
This Victorian hotel is beautiful & so romantic. Rooms are pricey. I attended a German buffet lunch and food was very good. Lots of atmosphere.
This hotel is a mixture of gracefulness and neglect. None of the floors above the ground floor are level, all of the wallpaper and multiple rooms appears to be from the 60s. However it redeems itself with the absolute amazing service, and Splendid location. All doors are accessed with physical keys. The amenities in the rooms themselves with standard. The Wi-Fi seemed fairly quick. However if you're using the Wi-Fi in this location you're doing it wrong. There is an amazing dining hall, a decent bar, and wonderful things to look at walking around. The beds were comfortable. Go here for Victorian Lakeside experience.
Beautiful, we visited in the off season. Not overly crowded and Fall scenery by the lake is breathtaking
The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The hotel is situated right on the lake, so most of the rooms have good views. For warm summer days it's nice to sit on the rocking chairs on the porch and enjoy the scenery.
Vintage accommodations. Nice staff. If you're looking for fancy, keep looking.
Someone else s underwear (bra) was in the sheets of our bed (obviously sheets had not been changed). Double charged for the room and had to call to have my card refunded.
A rambling historic hotel on the banks of the Chautauqua Lake within the grounds of Chautauqua Institute. Hotel rooms range from lower floor, mildly upgraded staff quarters to newly decorated multi-room suites. The booking process is uneven with online reservations possible when the phone staff says the hotel is fully booked. Young trainees supplements more seasoned crew in the summertime. The best option in an area with limited choices. Overpriced.
Great place
Heard of it for years
Fantastic fish. It's lovely to sit outside in the summer and look out on the lake. The service was top notch.
Had dinner there with my husband and his parents. I had the rainbow trout with fingerling potatoes and roasted carrots. The trout wasn't very fishy. The potatoes were crispy and the roasted carrots were amazing. The only downfall is that they had no hard liquor what so ever, which is more point friendly for anyone doing weight watchers, but they did have bottles beer and wine options available.
A history buffs dream hotel. The oldest wooden hotel east of the Mississippi. Many excellent sites to walk to.
Stayed at this hotel last weekend for a wedding. Absolutely gorgeous grounds and building, accomadating atmosphere, great food and an excellent bar. Staff was beyond amazing including, but not limited to the bartenders Kristina and Andy, the valet attendant Jon, and the receptionists including Alexis and Evan. Definitely would stay there again! Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience and I look forward to staying there next year!
Sunday brunch is excellent. Great views of Chautauqua Lake.
Beautiful building, beautiful town, nice buffet, and its a pokestop.
A beautiful Victorian hotel at Chautauqua Institute
Ok in middle of high class people in low income area
A very Majestic place on the shores of Chautauqua Lake but it's not open during the winter that's a shame
Lovely hotel with a lot of charm. Highly recommend.
It was the first day that the hotel opened for the season, which caused some delays.
Excellent place for breakfast on the porch facing the lake.
Gorgeous, simply G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S in every aspect. Super friendly staff and amazing views!
Mothers Day brunch was delicious. Food was high quality and fresh. Most likely the best brunch we've had over the years in this area. Staff was friendly and service was prompt and attentive. We were all very happy with our experience and plan to go back next year.
Visited Heirloom Restaurant on this visit grrrrrrr8 experience socially distanced ate on front porch overlooking Chautauqua Lake food and service were very good
