The Teatro di Roma is the seat of the company of the stable theater of Rome since 1972. A beautiful building and an extremely interesting programming, which is not limited to theatrical performances in the strict sense but also offers conferences and other meetings (splendid art lessons and archeology curated by Prof. Strinati)
Like all historical theaters, the seats in the stalls are narrow, with little legroom, if like me you have a slightly above average size, choose the boxes.

In Rome every angle, street, square or whatever is special. The light is unique and the colors of the buildings are warm like a blanket. The mix, between monuments and new building is possible only in Rome, otherwise is ususally horrible. In Rome, it is something special which increase the beauty of the city. Teatro Argentina is located in Argentina's square, a some kind of swimming pool where in place of the water, you can admire antique walls of the roman's age. Wonderful. The theater inside is huge and the seats are very comfortable. Prices, affortable. Enjoy the show !

Beautiful and very well kept theater. I attended a networking event and a theatrical performance made for my daughter's school. In both cases, everything went well but the support columns of the boxes do not allow a great view to some places inside.

Fascinating, particular, we were there for the singing school representation with an excellent organization and professionalism. The theater is suitable and allows you to breathe the lyric air.

Teatro Argentina, one of the oldest theaters in the city, was inaugurated on January 31st of the year 1732 with the representation of the opera Berenice composed by Domenico Sarro. In 1730 the Sforza Cesarinia family started the project to build the theater from a revaluation of the building and the tower they owned (Casa del Burcardo): a part of the secondary building was demolished to make room for the stage while the tower and other rooms of the building they were used as services for the theater and for the dressing rooms of the artists.
The theater was originally built entirely of wood except for the walls and masonry stairs; the hall was designed by the architect and Marquis Gerolamo Theodolicon, the horseshoe shape, to best meet the acoustic and visual needs. The stalls, paved with wooden planks, were completed by forty rows of benches, while the one hundred and eighty-six boxes were arranged in six orders. According to the testimonies reported by foreign visitors of the eighteenth century, the Teatro Argentina was considered the most important among the Roman ones.

On January 28th 1822 the first ascent of Zoraida di Granata by Gaetano Donizetti took place with Domenico Donzelli and Luigia Boccabadati.
Only in 1826 was the facade built by the architect Pietro Holl. [1] Two early Verdi's were performed in this theater: I due Foscari in 1844 and La battaglia di Legnano in 1849.

The theater hosts prose representations and both operatic and symphonic musical manifestations. Inside the building the Historical Museum of the Theater is established; guided tours and consultation of the vast photographic and documentary archive are planned.

Always a reference for lovers of theater, both classic and experimental. There is certainly something interesting in the season's program. The interior should be treated a little more, otherwise ok!

Eighteenth-century architecture that hosted the premiere of the 'Barber of Seville'.
Unfortunately, the years are also seen due to the absence of maintenance:
Often broken seats, dirty and greasy velvets, dusty and decadent lighting.

Founded as early as the 18th century, one of the oldest in Rome, in the 19th century, it was the premiere of the Barber of Seville by Rossini, still used today for operas and plays! It is right next to Largo Argentina and is easily accessible by bus and tram 8. Sideways the game plan depends. Regardless, there is a theater museum (my photo, it reflects the opposite).

Historical theater, with extremely uncomfortable seats, in particular the seats of the boxes, very hard, back pain assured at the end of the performance! A soft padding would be appreciated.

It is the most beautiful eighteenth-century theater in Rome that allowed the greatest Italian and European artists to debut. He has always presented high profile programs and continues in this exceptional tradition.
