The center is in the middle of the jungle and the team rescues and takes care of wild animals - initially captured to be pets. The aim goal is to creat a sanctuary and eventually free the ones that are fit.

It's a great initiative but we had a strange feeling at the end. We went there by our owns means (took the bus to Puerto Barranquilla, waited for a boat to pass by, there a volunteer took us around and we struggled our way back identically) as we are on a tight budget.

As a couple, out of the $27 we spent to go there ($4.5 one way in bus & $5 boat for 5 minutes to go), only $8 is for them (entrance = <30%)... Can't imagine how it goes through agencies.

A beautiful rescue zoo built into the forest. Totally worth going to if you're in the region. There is a natural path that leads you through the zoo and at some points you can see and interact with monkeys!
