the food and service was as good as Gordon Ramsay, ignore any comments that this place is expensive, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! the very very best, i will always go back.

Fish at its best, although huge portions. Service was great.

We had a lovely evening at Alec's. The staff were friendly, efficient and the food was excellent. We had a great table on the edge of the terrace and we were able to watch a beautiful sunset.

A lot of fish on the menu and there are meat and veggie options. Good food and service but the reason to come here is the ambiance. It really feels like fine dining.

Visited for the first time with my partner & her family for a 60th birthday. Although the location is out of the way, it makes for a beautiful setting. We were sat on the terrace with brilliant views of the Essex countryside & sunset. As a group we ordered a mix of seafood & red meat which all went down a treat, myself opting for a surf & turf option which was comprised of a fillet of beef and king prawn. The steak was cooked to perfection. We did not have dessert as we brought along a birthday cake. The service was very good on the night and the bill was super-reasonable, even though there were 6 of us. Will return!

What a disappointment! The service was slow the food took over an hour and half to come out the kitchen, it did finally arrive after having to ask to find out how much longer it was going to be. I wouldn't mind but we went mid week so there is no excuse really. When the food did arrive most of it was over cooked. Safe to say i wont be returning. Over rated and over priced rubbish!!

Been here a few times. I only recently learnt that it was under new ownership. I wouldn't have had a clue without someone telling me. The level of service and the standard of the food is as high as it has ever been.

5 stars really isn't enough, exactly as u would expect perfect food, no rush to get you feed and out the door. Will be returning again soon with friends

Some restaurants and reviews are exaggerated or hyped. Nothing of the sort here at Alec s. From the service to the quality of the food will have your palette dancing for joy. A treat. Will now be a regular given the lesser need to travel into London these days.

Fantastic food, service, atmosphere. Recommended for special lunches for special occasions.

Outstanding, in all areas. The menu is very broad, and consists of many varied dishes, despite Alec's being know primarily for fish. Staff are incredible. The building itself is beautifully decorated, and a very pleasant place to be. Wonderful, but the high price is justified. Excellent.

High class dining with a very pleasant atmosphere. Food was lovely but very limited menu for vegetarians like myself with just one option in starters and mains. A choice of 1 isn't a choice unfortunately. Increase the vegetarian options and it'll be a 5 star review.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and a great optional gluten free menu.

It felt almost normal again post covid - the restaurant had clearly gone to some effort to make everything as normal as possible.

This is the 2nd time I have been to this restaurant, quite a nice place to eat but you get the feeling it's trying to hard to be exclusive.

Been a couple of times Now and will be going back. Superb.

One of the best restaurants in the area and well wort travelling to.
I have been using Alec's for some time, almost since it opened, and I have never had any reason to complain about anything.
The restaurant is well laid out with great views over open land which can be enjoyed even more in the summer if you choose to dine on the patio/veranda
There is an upstairs bar for meeting over pre-dinner drinks which can also be used after dining if desired.
The menu is excellent, always of high quality with a varied and interesting specials offering each day
Staff are attentive and well informed
This place is not cheap but it is value for money
No. this is not a fake review, I just think that it is a great place to enjoy a meal

Very nice, food and service excellent, most enjoyable, will certainly recommend Alec's also we will most certainly come again

We our Xmas party here and it was lovely. Food was OK but the scenery was quite nice... It's a farm areas. Ate on the terrace (covered and well protected from the elements), there was bits of compost smell coming through which I guess will be worse in summer months. The smell probably doesn't get inside the main restaurant, not sure.

Drinks are a bit overpriced for the setting.

There's parking on site but gets filled quickly. You can park by the road though.

I would go there again but not anytime soon with my family as kids are not allowed at all.

Most restaurants nowadays are family friendly even if till 5/6pm. The management need to look into that.

The variety of food was absolutely brilliant. The crab to start was delicious as was the rest of the food that I hate here. Brilliant food coupled with brilliant service. I will definitely be going back and couldn t recommend going here.

Food was really good, we ate from the set lunch menu which was great value and had lots of choice, most of which was on the a la carte menu.
Service was exceptional, the waiting staff are really really well drilled and nothing was too much trouble.
The restaurant is a nice setting, nice decor, lots of fresh flowers, free parking.

Quite simply the best restaurant I have ever been to. Food is out of this world and the service is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Lovely ambience, service and food. Nice touch the complimentary glass of prosecco and the amouse bouche. It will be nice to have that at the evening service too

Great place to eat! Fantastic selection of wines too! Would recommend for groups too as service is very good and attentive.

The service from beginning to end was perfect, attentive but not intrusive. The food was absolutely superb, every dish was enjoyed by the eater. Our table have agreed that now we have found this restaurant it will be our special go to place going forward. We have already planned two events next year will be celebrated here.

I have just phoned to book a reservation for my parents special 50th anniversary meal for sunday lunch to include, 6 adults, a 12 and 6 year old to be told children under 12 are not welcomed at the restaurant. Really?? And I thought Sundays were for familys. I'm really not one to complain or make a fuss but this has really upset me and my parents who highly recommened this restaurant and particularly as both my children are acustomed to eatting in fine dining establishment's.
Shame on you guys for not encouraging family's, but it's your loss not ours.
I woud be very interested in your reasoning and comments regarding this matter.

A fine restaurant, mostly fish dishes. Very small vegetarian choices for starters and mains.
The service is very good and the food is well cooked with each plate delivered at the correct temperature.
Recommended.
