The history of the Police, is developed from year 1580 and it is divided in three stages, the one that includes the Police of Buenos Aires, (from the first three hundred years until 1880) of the Police of the Capital, (1880 to 1943) and of the current Federal Police.

The institution has its origin since ancient times, when man feels the need for protection against vandalism and crime, to protect his family, his property and ensure order, freedom, safety and work.



Later they were installed provisionally in the building of the Cabildo, until November 4, 1888, which opens the Police Department. The Fire Department was installed on the ground floor on Av. Belgrano, on March 11, 1889.

The history of this monumental palace of the nineteenth century begins with the steps initiated in 1868 until 1881, which is enacted by law 1449. On August 11, 1884 the contract was made with the architect Buschiazzo, directed by the architect Francisco Tamburini.
The building was integrated on two floors along Moreno Street, extending southwards through Cevallos and Loria streets, and the rest on one floor (Av. Belgrano)
