If you are looking for something a little off the main tourist trail and like a) relaxing and b) meeting really interesting people and c) learning to surf, Rancho Esperanza has got you covered.

The beach: nice sandy bottom beach with a consistent break that really couldn t be more tailor-made for beginners, with enough larger sets to keep the intermediate surfer interested.

The Rancho: really awesome staff, great fresh food that splits the difference nicely between locality and variety, and basic dorms at a totally reasonable price.
