With the ethos of 'a balanced life comes first' NLA recognizes that in order for students to reach their full potential, individual needs and abilities must be catered for. With the realization that in today's working environment there is often a need for self and career reinvention, students are able to broadly investigate their potential and possibilities through the wide choice of subjects on offer. By combining the Arts and academic subjects, students are rounded in ways that suit the modern world where presentation and social participation is a prerequisite. Learning is accelerated through the use of modern mediums of instruction, particularly audio visual communication, the preferred medium of learners today.

NLA teaches acceptance, acceptance of others and their opinions. Students are respected for their individuality. In that the students are respected for who they are, they develop self respect enabling them to present themselves with confidence.

Through the combination of the Arts with academic study, students are encouraged to enter into discussion to express their opinions hence becoming skilled at presenting themselves and their ideas. Through confident presentation and debate they learn how to be objective in their opinions and are then able to contribute to society. In today's world the audio visual medium plays an important part and students need to be able to communicate their ideas through this medium. By encouraging the use of electronic art, students are able to leave school with a complete digital portfolio of their work, a great start in life. The combination of the Arts and academic subjects brings about an integration of left and right brained thinking which is much needed in today's world.
