This church preaches or portrays some sort of mixed raced utopian congregation...come one come all. However, a few years back my then husband and I attended this church regularly with intention of joining, believing we may fit in better and be able to serve God with other loving Christians. He is white and I am black. My former husband had recently returned from a deployment and our relationship sucummbed to domestic violence for which he was arrested. After his arrest the state and military began taking action against him. He decided to file for divorce blaming me for the ruination of his career. I sought Christian counsel. I had one meeting with a staff member from Victory World church in which the individual advised me divorce was the best option for me. Needless to say I was shocked. I never heard from the church again concerning further counseling or even a follow up call or email to check on myself and child. Some months later I recieved an anonymous email, it was a correspondence between my ex and a Pastor on staff at Victory. Apparently, they were counseling my ex in secret. The contents of the emails were disturbing. I reached out to the Pastor (from the email) and questioned his agenda. The Pastor was rigid and defensive. I was left with a feeling of betrayal and dismay. The Pastor is presently on staff at the church. Coincidently I spoke with him recently and remembered who he was, I reminded him of a conversation we had a few years ago and he seemed a bit taken back. I was not surprised given the hand he had in pushing the divorce forward. My ex remarried 4 months after.
