Last summer (2012) I spent 3 months living and working at Camp Sloane, and I loved every minute! I had been told by friends who had previously worked at summer camps in the States to expect to 'hit a wall' in the 4th week... it didn't come! In fact I was incredibly disappointed when my time at Sloane came to an end. The people i had worked with for 3 months had become my family and became some of my best friends. The children that come to camp are a fantastic bunch of kids and it is clear to see that true friendships are made. The time they spend at camp is full of fun and is definitely something i would have loved to have had an opportunity to experience as a child. As an international staff member, the support offered by the camp in terms of organising visas, setting up american bank accounts and help and advice if you fell ill was extremely valuable and unique. My experience as a camp counsellor at Sloane allowed me to try things i had never before and gave me the best summer i've ever had! Which is why i'm returning for a second summer of fun in June 2014!
