Poor workplace culture, very much an old boys club. No institution-wide criteria for proper data management or accuracy. Front desk and shipping staff are incredibly undervalued - they were all amazing yet were paid hardly anything and would have no chance to move up. This is a sample processing facility, not a place to do hard science. If you keep your head down and do just enough work you are employed forever even if you are incompetent. Seniority trumps everything, minor issues languish for months or years, work distribution is very uneven, and workers are not valued for their skills and are punished for speaking up. Management is lacking and issues are diverted, and blame is focused on where it is easiest to go. If you have a normal, common, public-focused sample to submit you will get your results on time. If not, understaffing will make you wait months. -- worked here for 2 years
