The boat ride to the statue is over if those experiences new Yorkers have when they're kids in school, it's yet another of those NYC tourist things where you have to behave like a herd of cattle. There is security with metal detectors like an airport to guard against ... Not sure ... The statue is open very limited hours ... It's a national park ... Run that way.
