Been skiing weekly (at least) at Holiday Valley for almost 20 years. With ample (and recently expanded) snow making, the slopes are generally well prepared. The runs aren't that steep or long, but there's plenty of them, plenty of variety (bumps, groomers, glades, etc.), all accessible by an efficient lift system. Most winters, the skiing is excellent. The ticket deals and pass varieties (except, ironically, the full season pass which is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive!) are great, making skiing here truly affordable and accessible for families. All in all a great place to ski for a day or 3.

That being said, the vibe here changes DRAMATICALLY from day to night. The "day shift" usually consists of families/older folks who ski/board in control & respect your skiing space. However once the lights come on, the mountain is overrun by boarders & skiers who seem to care little about their own safety and even less about the safety of others on the hill. My wife & I have each been run over twice night skiing, with my wife "begifted" a broken thumb & shoulder. The "wild west" attitude towards safety at night is well known and because of that, most of my friends and those "day skiers" I casually talk to in the lodge will rarely, if ever, ski nights there anymore.
