L Cook Review of Johnson's Corner Farm and Mark...

Came here on Saturday for apple picking and I couldn t help but feel like it was a huge scam. We went there with the intention of spending some money anyways at the gift shop and of course paying for the apples, corn and sunflowers we picked. On top of that we each had to pay $5 for the hayride out to the fields. I think that price is a bit much considering that we were already going out there to pick stuff to purchase. I also didn t care how on top of the $5 hayride, they were also charging parents extra to have their kids go through the corn maze. I think the corn maze should at least be included with the hayride if you guys are already having the parents spend money on it. When I found out you had to pay to see the animal farm, I decided to skip it. The animals are divided by two fences so you can t even see them that well and there s a pvc pipe that drops to the other side of the fence so you can feed them. I m not paying to drop food down a tube. I get that this is probably a family business and they need to make a living, but they really should adjust the way they charge people for things so it doesn t look so obvious that they re nickel and dime-ing you for everything. It really made me spend less than I intended to when I stopped in the gift shop afterwards just out of principle. Maybe they should do a $10-15 cover charge and all the attractions are free or how about comping people a free hayride as long as they leave the hayride with more than $5 worth of crops?
There are many other farms in the area that don t do this. I won t be returning to this particular farm in a few weeks when it s time to pick pumpkins.
