I ll admit it I have been procrastinating to write this review. You see, I have a VERY active 5 year old son, and I wanted to make sure that this product, his new fort bed would hold up over at least a few months before writing about its construction and durability.

I originally felt like I may have been going a bit overboard to select and modify a bed design from Tanglewood for my son But after two other beds/bunk beds bit the dust after a few short months, I wanted to try for something quite a bit sturdier. In short, I got exactly what I was looking for in this company. Here s why:

1. Easy to work with From helping me to modify my clubhouse design to fit my son s room, to helping me pick just the right hue of paint to paint the bed once assembled, the staff at Tanglewood was nothing short of AMAZING. Excellent contact, easy to talk to, and very accommodating to what I wanted to see in this bed design.

2. Originality I wanted a slide attached to this bed, because my little guy seemed to like that feature of his last bed the very best. Problem was, the last slide was an open, straight slide that he spent as much time jumping off of as sliding down (Did I mention he is VERY active?!) So I decided I d like to add a covered spiral slide to this bed. Not only did the staff at Tanglewood help me make this priority a reality, they were able to suggest an original design for the slide that allowed us to maximize space in the room, while keeping the slide safe. Other original features included drafting the bed to fit into a bay window nook perfectly to fit the room, increasing the bed height to take advantage of the tall ceiling space, and addition of LOTS of storage spaces.

3. Shipping OK, I was super nervous about the shipping of a project this large, particularly since I don t live in Utah. Tanglewood made the shipping pain-free, and my son s bed set arrived on two pallets that were packet more securely than a Tetris board.

4. Craftsmanship This bed was assembled by myself and a strong male friend (I m a 5 7 single mom, so I definitely needed some help with unloading and assembly). This bed/fort was thought through SO WELL with the design, that my friend and I both commented that it seemed to build itself. I went from feeling intimidated by the project to feeling accomplished in a single day. Pluses included custom designed extra storage and shelves in strategic locations, a lookout tower with a study desk underneath that came out perfectly, and tabs on the backs of boards that helped everything to line up just right and hold steady while it was screwed and bolted together.

In sum, I have no regrets about choosing Tanglewood Design to make a unique and sturdy bed for my son. The bed is beautiful, and has worn extremely well. Plus it s a lot of fun for him to play in and sleep in. I strongly recommend this company to anyone considering a custom-made bed for their son or daughter. I can t say enough about this company and the quality of the beds they produce!!!
