Instead it is the quintessence of concreteness and melancholy and naive frugalness of the English. All the defects, inconceivable for us, of the hotels of this particular nation in every aspect are found here. But it has an irresistible charm, just what one might expect. A collage of electrical, plumbing, building horrors. Yet everything works. And it's clean.
