The Painting Company painted several rooms in my home, including a high-ceiling stairwell, removed popcorn from the ceilings, and wallpaper from one room. I wanted to love this company. In the end, I am mostly happy with the job, but it wasn t easy getting there.

The painters did a good job. They were neat, and cleaned up thoroughly at the end. They didn t get paint where they shouldn t have. I think they worked hard to try to make me happy. I am particular, but I don t think I m unreasonable. I was paying them a significant amount of money to give me a professional job. They did a great job on the ceilings, a fine job on the walls. The windows and doors were at times a struggle. Maybe I had unrealistic expectations about the prep that would be done. I judged it by what I would have done if I had been painting, and found it lacking.

The people on the admin side, who answer the phone and do paperwork, were very competent. The paint arrived correctly and on time. On the other hand, the salesperson and project manager were beyond frustrating. It took several weeks and multiple requests to get a contract from the salesperson. In the end, it was probably still too vague, as evidenced by my unhappiness with the prep work. The project manager showed up the first day, and I never saw nor heard from him again. An email I sent him went unanswered. When the painter tried to call him at the end of the job, he didn t answer.

My job was scheduled to start on a Monday. On Sunday afternoon, I got an automated email saying Your paint job has been scheduled for Tuesday! What?? No apology, no explanation, like the Monday appointment never happened. I called the office Monday morning and asked if someone would be showing up that day. She had no idea, but would have the project manager call. An hour later (after I called the office again), he finally called. My job had been delayed, so sorry. No one would be coming until Tuesday. Fine, delays happen. But I m informed with an automated email that doesn t even tell me that? Unacceptable.

The paint job was good. Some parts of it were even excellent. But I think this is a company that is too successful, too busy, and maybe stretched too thin to give adequate customer service to small residential customers like me. Everyone else seems to give a stellar review, but that just wasn t my experience.
