The 2 stars are solely based on the amenities in Hanbury Manor, as for the service it was atrocious. When I checked in, the room was very far (garden court), which was nice and away from the main reception. The room was clean and presentable. I had called 4 times for a mobile phone charger, was promised on 4 occasion it was on its way, 2 hours later I called back, then I was told they did not do any chargers for any phones. our room cards failed to work after spending time in the spa. as we were really far from the main reception, we used there main phone in the lobby to call main reception, we were told to bring our ID's with us and go to the main reception due to security check. After speaking to the reception for 15 minutes telling them all our belongings were in the room, we had to wait 30 minutes before someone came to us and let us back into the room. When ordered room service, we requested a cheese sandwich with crisp, vanilla ice cream and strawberry ice cream on a waffle. The cheese sandwich came toasted no crisp but came with salad, the ice cream was so melted, it was a cold drink, something you would get from Mc Donald's milk shake and leave it on a warm heater for 20 mins. We had to wait 1 hour and 25 minutes for the order to come incorrect. When called back we were told room service and the hotel did not do crisp, and the sandwich comes toasted, when asked about the ice cream drink, they said that is how it is provided. I asked to speak to a manager, then 15 minutes later 2 packets of Kettles crisp were sent to our room (I thought they whole pace had no crisp). The whole experience was ruined by incompetence and the feeling staff members did not want to be severing, some staff members abrupt comments phased me a bit, making me think this is not a 5* hotel at all. The room does have a mini bar, but it is empty. I had hoped it was only my experience that was bad, but reading through the reviews, it looks like a lot of people have experienced the same. I got better service from Marriott's 4* in Waltham Abbey then at Hanbury Manor. This is nothing but an honest review nothing personal.
