Wow. Incredible let down. I hope they do the G7 somewhere else. This place is five star in description only. They simply met the check boxes required to be designated a five star but their service, the quality of the experience and the rooms were less than a two star. They over promise and completely under deliver on experience and quality. The area has far less to do in the summer and spring then they claim on their website.

They spent more money on the photos and their website then on training their people, providing a relaxing experience, and upkeeing the hotel. There are no antiques, there is very little comfort or warmth from the staff. There are little to none of the promised activities on site unless you beg them to honor it. The activity fee is a fraud. Motels do not charge you to use the pool and yet this hotel builds that into the fee. This does not feel like a castle or manor. No antiques, unlit chimneys, and rooms that look like the marriott sold their old furniture at a discount to the fairmont. There are no flowers. The staff is not accomadating. Everything is overprice and comes with an extra fee. The pool is messy with towels everywhere. The sports desk and the conceirge booth were unmanned the three long days we were uncomfortably there.

Honestly, this is just a resting place for the people at the sad little casino next door. The limited parking is completely full so you walk to get to the hotel unless you want a fee to park, in the middle of nowhere!

The website is misleading. You have to beg them to follow through on promises. The welcome is poor. The treatment is cold. The decor is sad. A dog is at the reception and the staff was more concerned about his afternoon walk then introducing us to the hotel.

Long story short, this region has nothing going on in the summer. The resort is overpriced. It lives off an old name and old ranking. It makes its money desperately wherever it can and will not treat you right. The reality is that this place is for people who want to gamble or want privacy from busier places. I felt creeped out the entire time. It felt like the shining.

Stay in quebec of find somewhere nicer, somewhere else.

There is potential for the region but not for the hotel. They need a major investment all new staff and total change in atmosphere. Ive also read the manager's responses to these comments. He's no where to be seen in the hotel. He clearly has not made any updates or changes. Lip service and posturing is not enough for a five star. This place should be shut down until it is fixed or it should reclassify what it offers. We flew to Canada for this place, huge waste of time at a sad old place.
