Review of SNHU

When it comes to SNHU and your future education lo...

When it comes to SNHU and your future education look for alternatives. SNHU is not the great, helpful community-based online program that they purport themselves to be. The commercials make me choke on the inconsistencies that I have experienced when their testimonials are on. My experience with SNHU was arduous, from the advisors, to the instructors, even the other students in the classes . Many instructors did not create the lessons plans so asking them questions about the goals of the assignments are pointless. I had one instructor reply to a lengthy question about how a particular assignment was to be completed and the response was essentially I don t make up the assignments. How about you try your best. I also had an issue with an advisor who was more of a nuisance than a guiding and helpful force in the University. She would call constantly and ask me how I was doing in my class and then tell me what grade I had. Complete waste of her time and mine, but when I asked questions about my financial aid or what other elective where available I would get handed off to other people in other departments after being on hold for what seemed like forever. I asked to get a new advisor. That caused quite the uproar. After about two weeks I finally got a new advisor, but the road getting there was ridiculously convoluted and filled with I can t help you with that. Or I m not sure. I think I spoke to over six different people over the course of the two week period that said they would Take care of it. Only when I asked to be CC ed on emails regarding my change in Advisor did I start to see how poorly the inner working of this institution were. Their OneStop Office, a terrible misnomer, is a network of individuals separated across the country that has got to be the most ineffective group of people I have ever tried to work with. No one knows anything, but someone on the other line may be able to help. The administration has a right hand who doesn t speak to the left, the advisor was more of an annoyance than a help, and nothing infuriated me more than having to file and fill out COCE Dispute Forms about instructors which the Advisors are not quick to give out. I have read online that there are a number of people, including myself, who have felt as though there was a clear and obvious bias and discriminating behavior that the instructors inflicted upon their students. My advisor at the time tried to downplay and backpedaled in an attempt to make it seem as though there was nothing there when there very clearly was. The instructors are fresh out of their own degrees so if you want to learn something and not just spit back the information for that week/module I would suggest another learning institution. For someone who has attended this college for four years, there cannot be anything worse out there than this. I will not be continuing my education with SNHU as soon as my current degree is completed.
