I would have given this place 5 stars if it weren't for the obnoxious, horrendously loud music blasting from the Deer Meadow Grille in the middle of the day. I couldn't hear anything or talk to anyone when I stopped at the grille to grab a bite to eat, and the music wasn't even good. The decibel level should have been cut in half, and it would have still been more than loud enough for people to dance to and enjoy.
Other than the unpleasant music, Snow Valley is an awesome ski/snowboard resort, with great trails and good customer service. It is a good environment, not overcrowded, scenic, and it has trails for all skill levels. It has a very wide, practically flat beginner trail at the base of the mountain that is excellent for first-time skiers or snowboarders to practice, but it also has a good selection of Black Diamond trails. Sometimes an entire additional section of the mountain is open ABOVE Snow Peak (the top of the Snow Valley Express chairlift), with three other chairlifts leading to Slide Peak. Slide Peak is a Mt. Baldy-esque section of the resort with even less people and more intermediate and black diamond trails. I highly recommend Snow Valley for both beginners and experts!
