I've been with Family Practice for over 35 years- either myself, or a family member. I actually remember when Dr. R. Patel was the only doctor in the small office, then located on Edgewater Drive in College Park. I remember seeing the now Dr. Varesh R. Patel D.O. (now available for patient services!) doing his homework or coloring as a young elementary school student- wonderful to see him commit and study hard to become one of the available doctors in the Family Practice group! I was a patient of Dr. Ramesh M. Patel M.D., beginning at the age of 9. My grandmother was his patient for a number of years, until she went home. I have always been happy with Dr. Patel, because of his professionalism. I do feel that the staff is kind, but on some occasions, it is obvious that it has been a difficult day...
I must say that I was much happier with the Family Practice years ago. I know times change, staff changes. As of recent years, we have had issues with billing, in sometimes what seems to be mishandling of information, or perhaps simple mistakes made by the billing office. It is frustrating, because we have had to go out of the way calling insurance, the billing office, digging through our records and receipts. We are still having issues that don't make sense. Also, be very aware that they have made mistakes on the outcomes of lab reports, which leads me to think they possibly mishandled specimens given. Testing that without a doubt, 100%, should have turned out one way, but turned out another. It's questionable, how these results were handled. We have learned to take particular care in keeping all prior and updated records on hand.
All in all, the office doctors and most staff are very nice, knowledgeable people, who are happy to help. Dr. Ramesh Patel seems to stay up to date with current breakthroughs and treatments. I do think this is a good place to find a primary care doctor. Please remember to keep track of your financial records, as well as never be afraid to ask questions and push for answers.
