We hired The Painting Company to paint the interio...

We hired The Painting Company to paint the interior of a home we were moving into. At the beginning of the process, I felt very confident that the job would be done correctly. However, as time progressed, this didn't pan out - we had issues with quality and lack of communication.

First, I would say that the quote was very fair and the process was simple. Being able to use GreenSky for financing was an additional bonus. The premise (and what they sold us on) was that there would be a project manager who would review our requests with the painting crew, allowing the project to be somewhat "hands off". This was important to us, as we both work full time and other than some periodic check ins can't be monitoring their work. We spent an hour walking through this with the associate who wrote up the initial quote and he took pictures and documented everything.

Prior to the crew showing up the first day, the Project Manager reached out to tell us he wouldn't be there. This was counter to our expectations, but we were trying to be flexible and thought that since the project had been so well documented, it would be pretty easy to get the crew up and running. When the crew showed up the first day, I walked through the house with the painters, highlighting where things needed to be painted, where items needed to be patched, etc. The house is 100 years old and has gone through many owners, so there were little things here and there that needed to be addressed. Then the Project Manager shows up unexpectedly, and now I do another walk through, repeating the same directions (now for the 3rd time). Would also note that the whole house was to be painted the same color white - so I thought this was a pretty simple job, even with the slight nuances that come with an older house.

My biggest issue throughout the project was a lack of communication.
- First - our contract noted that someone would communicate with us daily to tell us progress - this never happened. Our original estimate was for 5 days, and eventually extended to 8 days due to some areas requiring more coats. This was only communicated after having to reach out to the Project Manager, follow up after no response, and then call the main office.
- Second - I requested a certain type of paint to be used, and the painters made passive aggressive comments about the quality of the paint -- however, the whole time leading up to the project, the project managers said this would be no problem and that the paint I requested was just as good, if not better, quality. Again - a communication issue...if there was an actual quality issue with the paint, the company could have spoken with us and we would have discussed next steps. I actually think their assumption that 2 coats of white paint would cover colored walls was just incorrect, regardless of paint quality.
- Third - because this work was being done prior to our move in, we wanted to ensure that the project was progressing at a quick enough pace to allow us to move in. Again, we constantly had to ask what the progress was, instead of someone proactively reaching out.
- Fourth - On day 5, we had a new project manager show up. I had to walk through the project one more time. To my pleasant surprise, he highlighted and photographed areas where they needed touch ups (drips, etc.) and told me he'd call me that afternoon to verify that the areas were corrected. Needless to say, he never called. There remain areas where there are drips.

After a week in the house, I'm finding old fixtures that we asked them to remove and patch, there are areas where the paint didn't cover well, areas where they got paint on hardwoods, tile and counter tops, etc. Also areas where paint tape is left. So, I've still got some work to do to make the house how I want it and I'm 6 months pregnant.

There have been no follow ups or requests for feedback from the company. The painters also left trash items in our front yard that we've now had to request a pick up from the city of Atlanta for because it is too large for our main trash cans.
