Our realtor was very nice, friendly, and professional.
He also participated in the Homes for Heroes program, which saved us around $2000 in closing costs.

However, there were several inaccuracies with the listing, which only came to light after owning the home for several months.
First off, the "home inspector" performed an "inspection" and said the home had no major issues. Come to find out later on, that the electrical system is not up to code, the AC unit was improperly installed with no power disconnect (potential to start a fire) and was the incorrect amperage for the home's electrical system, and the furnace was missing a dangerous drip-leg, to prevent condensation from rusting the fitting and causing a gas leak. These were all discovered upon inspection by a TLC Plumbing contractor, and cost all told over $500 to fix. Had the "inspector" used by the company discovered these, we could have saved the money and had the previous owners pay. Additionally, we were told that the previous owner was a professional electrician; well, I can't think of ANY electrician would let the electrical system in his own home NOT be up to code -' there were THREE GFCI's for the ENTIRE house, and NONE in the kitchen. Additionally, they were all wired into the same circuit, instead of each having their own individual circuit.

All in all, not too big of a deal, as I said above, we had it fixed for $500.
It's simply disconcerting that so many obvious, glaring issues were missed during the inspection, and the listing was misleading....what other MAJOR problems might be lurking?

I would not hesitate to recommended our realtor, he was fantastic. He was friendly, answered all our questions, and was very responsive in helping us get the issues fixed.

I would however, HIGHLY recommend an independent inspection, to be paid for by the company or the owners of the home you are looking at, and do a little research on the home before pulling the trigger.
