Bradie Oliver Review of Trillium Health Partners

I will NEVER EVER deal with this emerg AGAIN. OH MY GOD.
Those who have reviewed that the emerg nurses are rude are not exaggerating. At first I thought it was just me..
I fractured my leg and am a patient at the fracture clinic (which they are absolutely wonderful caring humans there). When I felt signs and symptoms of a blood clot I was told to go to the emerg right away. So I did.
I wish I could give a comparison of rudeness and lack of bedside manners. But I don t meet many inconsiderate people thankfully.
Don t get me wrong there were some nurses who were kind but the rude ones unfortunately outweighed them. They were awful towards kids who were obviously crying if either pain or fear.
I heard things like they ll get here when they get here! When a patient of 7 hours asked about getting their cast.
Kid was crying and a nurse said oh stop crying! Why are you crying you re not even in pain! And not in a nice way in a really ridiculing way.
I was asked to hold my broken leg and sit in a chair..
I almost fell over in my crutches from my pain killers being so strong and all the nurses just watched me standing there swaying obviously out of it. No one wanted to help so yes I started to cry and said can someone please get me a f**ing chair? Not that this was ok, I know. I had been here for 8 hours at this point and was losing it. But regardless a nurse just stared at me and was like ok you don t have to swear, there are kids in the area. I doubt these kids would be ruined by my profanity over them yelling at them for crying but that s just my opinion.
Needless to say a nice nurse helped me and through my hyperventilating and crying of over exhaustion and my pain, I apologized to her. I said I m not a mean person, I am sorry but I have been here from 12am-4am and now I m back and I ve been here since 12pm and I m just over exhausted and my pain killers are very strong and no one was helping me. She was sweet and got me set up and left.
The doctor was super cool ,ultrasound technician was wonderful, the staff that helped transport me was so so sweet. (If it was just them and the fracture clinic I would be giving a full 5 stars)
And I will even say I had some staff tell me they are all aware that the emerg nurses are rude. So it is not just the patients. And honestly - they are probably under so much stress we aren t even aware of. It is important that we try to be as empathetic and open minded when people can act in such a way we don t understand the reasoning.
However that just means something else needs to be done. I hope these reviews are read and taken seriously by someone who can help the nurses be less stressed and also work on their bedside manners as well as ensure that patients are feeling cared for. Im not asking for a bell and some cozy slippers. Im not suggesting anything other than don t treat people like they are dogs, to put it bluntly.
