Hard to beat this place as far as ski towns go.

Hard to beat this place as far as ski towns go.

This year they are off to a slow start with the lack of snow. However, here's my full review:

The culture in this town and on this mountain are unparalleled. It's hard to find an unfriendly or uptight person.

We went both opening weekend and this past weekend (December 2-4). Opening weekend was obviously fun because we were all counting down the days until snow. They also had a DJ and served French toast to all who attended. The downside was that there was only one run open. Not good for beginners or people looking for advanced terrain.

This past weekend was fantastic, however. Once they open peak 7 and peak 9 it gets really pretty great. We spent the whole day on peak 9 and took the Quicksilver Chair up. The run is perfect for beginners and has some fun jibs for advanced people too. If you take the superchair all the way up, there are runs for everyone. Best riding ever! We also enjoyed the Maggie Bar at the bottom of the run.

The town itself had some pretty cool stuff going on this weekend. There was a dog parade with about 100 St Bernard's, a Santa race and the Christmas Tree lighting. This was the best trip possible to get you in the holiday spirit.

Definitely check out Empire Burger on Main Street and the Liquid Lounge of you're up for some dancing.
