I called Takoma Park Police about an auto collision in the parking lot of RT Automotive around 8AM and waited nearly 3 hours. Nobody showed up and, more importantly, nobody ever called me about the delay. I finally drove to the police station on Maple and made the report. I realize that my call was a non-emergency, but the police department can do a better job of notifying people as opposed to expecting you to wait untold hours for a policemen to show up and take a report. Maybe you can develop a system to take reports over the telephone and issue report numbers in the same way. It is EXTREMELY unprofessional to expect somebody to lose their whole day waiting for a policemen when something like this can be handled over the phone.
