This was a wonderful surprise! This beautifully restored fort includes most of its original buildings - some restored, some renovated. Many of them are open and have museum type displays or period decor in them. They are spacious and impressively built!

The rangers were friendly and this location is mostly open right now (the gift store is not).

It is located on the edge of the old downtown. There is space to picnic in the parking area. You can enjoy walking the large, old downtown, including a coffee shop three blocks away.

This makes a good outing for families with older children and adults who can access stairs. There is a wheelchair accessible path inside the fort.
