HMS Calliope | Royal Naval Reserve Unit, South Shore Rd, Gateshead, NE8 2BE, Tyne & Wear, England was a real Royal Navy ship of the line in its earliest incarnation that gave valiant service from 1887. In 1907 Calliope became a drill ship for the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and in 1951 the ship's successor as training-ship on the River Tyne took that name.
Now the Gateshead shore establishment itself bears the name HMS Calliope enshrined in a modern station that was significantly upgraded with new facilities in 2016.
