Let me start off by saying the zoo it self was a great experience for me, my family and family friends. BUT, what ruined my ENTIRE day after exiting the zoo was the gift shops employee Sam, not sure if that even her name but, thats what she told me. Now i never write any reviews and have little complaints about certain establishments, but, this seriously has to get put out there before this happens to any other family.

Where do i begin.. from the moment i walked into the gift shop and greeted Sam, i got nothing but dirty looks and not one word back. I thought nothing of it, maybe she did not hear me, but the entire time she continuously kept giving me, my family and family friends dirty looks as we walked to look at the merchandise and I noticed it quickly and can Just feel her staring at us. My friends wife walks up and buys a stuffed animal for her son, and what shocked me was she THROWS the receipt at her !! My friend did not want to say anything so they walked out and so did my family. I walked up to the counter to look at the different flavors of jerky they had, and i hear her tapping her fingers on the counter so I look up and see her just staring me down! So i give her the jerky and continue to pay, I ask how her day is going, looks at me with a face of disgust and says GOOD the payment goes through and the most UNPROFESSIONAL and DISGUSTING behavior i had EVER witnessed from an employee at a family establishment, she TOSSES, yes TOSSES my card on the counter. Writing this and thinking about it just boils my blood, I couldn't believe what she has just done . After looking at her in disbelief she just stares back and expects me to just walk away. The most atrocious individual i have encountered with!! I am not sure if this was discrimination and i really hope not i seriously HOPE this was not discrimination we are a hispanic family, or even if she was having a bad day this is no excuse what so ever for an employee to act like this at a FAMILY establishment.

After asking for her name several times and her ignoring me i had to ask the employee at the admissions section. In all honesty i hope this employee gets TERMINATED from this place, she ruined my entire day and my friends as well, we had a great time and the kids loved the animals but when something like this happens which is totally uncalled for there has to be consequences for ones actions. I called the manager and i will be following up with the manager to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else or their families after having a good day at the zoo. I am just in disbelief and really cant wrap my head around what i experienced today at the Alaska zoo gift shop.
