I visited Moab over the past weekend with my broth...

I visited Moab over the past weekend with my brother and his wife. We did a couple of hikes during the day on Saturday the 10th of April. We hiked Corona Arch and Devils Garden. Being out of shape I did it anyway. After both hikes and then a nice pasta dinner we filled the Jeep with Gas and then started driving out of Moab. We didn't make it 100 yards before I started feeling lightheaded, my head was tingling, I felt nauseous, tunnel vision, shortness of breath, and other symptoms. I decided to quickly turn around back to the gas station where I requested they call an ambulance. My situation quickly turned for the worse as I lay there on the concrete at the gas station. I honestly thought I was going to die. My body was cold and I was shaking along with rapid breathing and very low blood pressure. I had no strength whatsoever. I was quickly taken to the Moab Regional Hospital. Even in the state I was in, I knew where I was and what was going on. I was fighting. I was totally impressed with the rapid response with the Ambulance EMT's, the Emergency Room Staff, Doctors and Nurses. The Emergency Room Staff was moving with an orchestrated lightning speed to bring me back to a more normal state. After stabilizing me, they admitted me to a room. I ended up staying an extra day for observation, but all I can say is that this hospital and it's staff are simply amazing. They were caring, professional and very friendly. On another note. I am glad to have been given a second chance at life. I will be better prepared for the next time I go hiking out in Arches National Park and Canyonlands. Especially during the heat. Lesson learned the very hard way. Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke are no joke!!!
Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! with electrolytes also.
