In early 2019 I paid Marque Lawyers $1,000 to help me apply to the NSW Supreme Court for Administration of my mother s estate. Kyra Edwards was initially very helpful. AFAIK I did everything required of me, answered all her questions and sent her all the required documents. I sent them by registered mail with receipt acknowledgement requests, and these were duly received by me.

Despite several inquiry emails from me I got no response for many months. Then I got an email from her telling me that it appears as though she didn t receive the documents!

Apparently I would have to do it all again. I have now done this and the second set of documents should have reached her last week.

I would have thought she would now send me an email telling me whether the documents have been executed correctly or whether my application is ready to be lodged with the Court. I have not received one (yet).

I realise Marque Lawyers are not wills & estates lawyers. I initially contacted a wills & estates law firm here in Melbourne, they told me I would need to contact a firm in NSW (where my mother died) and I asked if they could suggest one. They suggested Marque Lawyers and I accepted this suggestion in good faith.

I also realise that $1,000 is small beer in legal circles but it is a lot of money to me. I will be happy to amend or delete this review at such time as it appears that I am getting the standard of service I thought I was paying for.

An earlier review I posted here mysteriously disappeared, along with all the other existing reviews (even though they were mostly favourable). I hope this review doesn t also disappear.

Edit (June 2020): Kyra Edwards' response times have improved, but it has been 2 years since my mother died and 18 months since I first contacted Marque Lawyers. And like many people at the moment I am doing it tough. So the sooner my application for Administration is approved, the better.
