Overall this has to be one of the nicest properties in Malta. By far the biggest benefits here is the location itself, as Golden Sands is easily the nicest beach in Malta, and the staff here overall were exceptional with their service.

The beach is perfect, and staying at the hotel gives you the massive benefit to have a private (ish...more on that in a sec) section of this beach with sun chairs and umbrellas included. Considering the other side of the beach is public and very crowded when it's nice out, staying at the hotel is worth it for this alone.

The staff is also a huge plus about this hotel. Every staff member was helpful, and if there was ever a request they couldn't cater to, they immediately were quick to provide alternatives and go out of their way to make the stay special. It was impressive how consistent the service was!

The property itself is quite nice and clean, though slightly tricky to navigate all the facilities at first. Lots of restaurant options, a gym, outdoor pools and an indoor one, as well as a water sports centre by the beach for rentals and boat tours which is great.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Maybe in need of refurbishment soon, as a phone next to the toilet is often a sign of things being a bit dated, but still was quite nice overall and at the very least a four star quality room. Pillows were comfy and huge, bed was soft, and all the amenities were great.

The only reason I wouldn't give the property 5 stars other than the rooms being slightly dated is the lack of staff and security in key areas of the property. Two key areas this was quite noticeable was the adult (16+) section of the pool, and the beach seating at the hotel. When we first arrived at the adult pool, we arrived to four kids screaming and jumping off the edge. Not a deal breaker since that wasn't the reason we booked at the Golden Sands, but it's a bad look to offer this to those looking for peace and quiet only to have 2 hours where not a single staff member was present to advise the parents there was plenty of room at the other pool without restrictions. The beach area also lacked any staff, where aside from bar staff serving drinks, there was no security monitoring that the beach seating was occupied by actual hotel guests. Vendors and various beach goers who weren't staying at the hotel would walk through, which is a bit of a concern both in terms of any belongings and I'm sure is more of an issue in the summer months where seating is likely limited.

That all being said, it is still an amazing property, and was the highlight of our week in Malta!
